This thematic exhibition brings together nine queer and non-binary Diné weavers across three generations, each of whom navigates, honors, and expands Navajo weaving traditions through their own distinct artistic practices. Although the visual language of the artists varies widely, they share a commitment to weaving as both a means of cultural maintenance and a radical expression. For generations, Diné weaving has been framed as women’s work: an idea shaped not only by oral histories and community practices, but also by colonial frameworks. While this narrative draws from the matrilineal structure of Diné society, it often obscures a more expansive and queerer lineage. This exhibition is organized by guest curators Moonoka Begay, Sháńdíín Brown, and Zach Feuer.
