Patrick DeYoung is an outside buyer for Schnitzer Steel, a metal recycling company that operates 95 recycling facilities throughout the United States. Prior to joining Schnitzer, DeYoung was a buyer for Sims Metal Management. Before attending Vassar, DeYoung was a Sergeant in the United States Army for five years, where he served in a variety of leadership roles within a Stryker infantry battalion. He deployed to Afghanistan twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

DeYoung was a recipient of the Vassar Veterans Posse scholarship and majored in political science at Vassar. As an undergraduate he was a member of the men’s crew team, a co-founder of Vassar Refugee Solidarity, a Ford Scholar, and Chair of Organizations for the Vassar Student Association. Patrick was awarded the Frances Aaron Hess 1953 Award for Volunteer Service in 2018.

DeYoung joined the AAVC Board in 2020. He serves as a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee and the Ad Hoc Student and Young Alumnae/i Engagement Committee. He has also served on the AAVC Clubs Committee (2018–2019) and the AAVC Career Networking Committee (2018–2020).
