Michael Neuwirth ’89 built his career over the course of three decades delivering corporate communications solutions, primarily in the food industry. He has driven exponential growth in categories including probiotics and fermented foods, plant-based diets, and certified organic foods. Today, his work comprises three very different areas: communications consulting, angel investing, and real estate and investment management.

Michael has led and advised businesses and nonprofits including Danone, the American Sustainable Business Network, L’Occitane, B Lab (B Corp Certification), Fund for Social Equity, and others, and is now serving clients as an independent consultant. His expertise includes issues and crisis management, sustainability communications, stakeholder and ecosystem mapping, audits and assessment, and cohort building. He helps brands in the food industry and beyond harness storytelling and collaborate with influencers to drive growth.

Since 2024, Michael has been involved in the Alumnae/i Association of Vassar College (AAVC), serving on the Board of Directors, Nominating and Governance Committee, Alumnae House Committee, and Class Engagement Committee. Beyond Vassar, he chairs the Executive Forum Angels, leading a team of volunteers to organize pitch days while investing in and advising entrepreneurs.

He lives in New York City, where he was born, and enjoys running, tennis (playing and watching), cooking, traveling, reading, and word games, when he is not spending time with his wife and two young adult children. Following in his parents’ footsteps, he also takes great satisfaction in pursuing real estate investment and personal investment management.
