Flora and Fauna

There is a broad diversity of habitat types throughout the Preserve. Depending on which trails you take, you may end up in a lush floodplain forest, on a dry, rocky Appalachian oak-hickory forest, surrounded by stunning wildflowers in an old field, or out amongst dead tree snags in a beaver transformed red maple hardwood swamp. Part of what distinguishes these habitats from each other are their unique assemblages of plant and animals. You can learn more about some of our species of flora and fauna below.
