A founding member of the Haiti Project’s Medical Advisory Board and the physician who formerly ran the organization-sponsored clinic in rural Haiti will be this year’s honorees at the Haiti Project’s annual Art and Soul Gala April 27 at the Vassar Alumnae House.

Internationally renowned lawyer and peace activist Jonathan Granoff, Vassar class of 1970, will receive the Alumnae/i Association of Vassar College (AAVC) Distinguished Achievement Award during a program on March 23 at 5:30 p.m. in Rockefeller Hall, Room 300, on the Vassar campus.

Dr. Margaret “Peggy” Hamburg, a nationally recognized public health expert with unique ties to Vassar College, will deliver the Commencement address at the College’s 159th graduation exercises.

Vassar is embarking on an inclusive history initiative with a goal of engaging our community broadly to research, document, and make publicly accessible the history of Vassar with respect to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

MODfest, Vassar College’s annual tribute to the visual and performing arts, will be highlighted this year by “Welcome to Indian Country,” an evening of song, storytelling, and satire celebrating Native culture. The performance will be held Saturday, February 4 at Skinner Hall on the Vassar campus in the Town of Poughkeepsie. All MODfest events are free and open to the public.

Princeton University civil rights historian Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr. offers his thoughts on the upcoming midterm elections and other topics as the inaugural guest on Vassar College’s Conversations @ the Salt Line podcast, which debuted today—just one week before Election Day. “We’re on a knife’s edge,” Glaude said. “Democracy is on the ballot.”

The estate of the late Mary Pick Hines, Vassar class of 1953, has bequeathed four remarkable paintings to the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College, and are now on display for the benefit of all visitors to view.
