Maria Hoehn

Migration, Displacement, and Higher Education: Now What?” was recently published by Palgrave Macmillan, an effort of the numerous Vassar faculty and alumni involved in the Mellon Foundation-funded Consortium on Forced Migration, Displacement, and Education (CFMDE). Maria Höhn, Professor Emerita of History on the Marion Musser Lloyd ’32 Chair; Matthew Brill-Carlat ’19, former Coordinator of Research and Pedagogy with CFMDE; and Brittany Murray, former Adjunct Assistant Professor of International Studies and CFMDE program coordinator, are the editors—and amongst the contributors—of this book. Faculty contributors include Joseph Nevins, Professor of Geography, Jodi Schwarz, Associate Professor of Biology, and Maria Hantzopoulos, Professor of Education and Coordinator of Secondary Teacher Education. Former CFMDE staff contributors include Ava McElhone Yates ’21 as well as numerous students. Bringing together experts from the social sciences, humanities, arts and experimental sciences, this open access edited book—made possible by the Research Committee—offers a nuanced and interdisciplinary introduction to Forced Migration Studies. In this collection, Murray, Brill-Carlat, and Höhn continue the work of the CFMDE by bringing activists, artists, and educators working in cooperation with and for the benefit of displaced populations. For additional information about the CFMDE initiative  and recent accomplishments, keep reading!
