Preparing for the Center for Multidisciplinary Study: Upcoming Relocations and Campus Changes

August 20, 2026

Dear Campus Community,

The renovation of the Old Laundry Building (OLB) into the new Center for Multidisciplinary Study (CMS) is anticipated to begin in less than a year. This exciting project represents a significant investment in Vassar’s academic future and will create new opportunities for multidisciplinary teaching, learning, and collaboration.

As construction approaches, there will be changes across campus that extend well beyond the Old Laundry Building. Several academic programs, administrative offices, classrooms, and shared spaces will be permanently or temporarily relocated to prepare for construction and support the transition. We recognize that these changes will affect many members of our community, and we appreciate your flexibility and patience as plans continue to develop. Additional information, including move schedules and project timelines, will be shared with affected departments and the broader campus community as plans are finalized.

Throughout the project, we will remain committed to providing timely and transparent communication about project milestones, relocations, and other changes that may impact campus operations. We encourage you to reach out with questions or concerns at any point during the process.

We recognize that a project of this scale will bring temporary disruptions, but we are committed to making the transition as organized and seamless as possible. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and partnership as we prepare for this transformative project.

Sincerely,

Kelli A. Duncan, Dean of Strategic Planning and Academic Resources

Bryan Corrigan, College Architect

Brian Daly, Associate Dean of the Faculty and Academic Resources
