Follow-up on this Morning’s Alert

10 a.m., August 29, 2025

Dear all,

I am writing to follow-up on the alert you received earlier this morning.

Earlier today we received an anonymous, unsubstantiated bomb threat pertaining to one of our dorms, Davison House. The threat came in through a social media platform that has no direct connection to Vassar but is used by Vassar students and others in the community.

In response, we have mobilized campus safety and Poughkeepsie police and have evacuated the building. The building is currently being searched with explosives experts and bomb-sniffing dogs. We are taking the utmost precautions to ensure the safety of our campus.

We expect that it will take several hours to resolve this incident and re-open Davison House. We will keep you informed when we know more.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Carlos Alamo, Dean of the College, at caalamo@vassar.edu or Arlene Sabo, Director of Campus Safety, at arsabo@vassar.edu.

Thanks,

Elizabeth H. Bradley, President
