Sad News: Carol Christensen

Dear all,

I am writing with the sad news that Carol Christensen, Professor Emerita of Cognitive Science, died on July 14th following a long illness.

Professor Christensen taught at Vassar from 1973 until her retirement in 2016. A long-time member of the Department of Psychology and inaugural member of the Cognitive Science Department, Professor Christensen was one of the founders of both the Program in Biopsychology (now called Neuroscience and Behavior) and the Program (now Department) in Cognitive Science. A specialist on behavioral indicators of aging in the human brain, Carol published in influential journals and is remembered as an extraordinary teacher, researcher, colleague, and friend.

No services are planned, per Professor Christensen’s wishes; she is survived by her partner of over 50 years, Karl Drake. Our deepest sympathies go to Professor Christensen’s many friends and colleagues in this time of loss.
