Generation Vassar

February 2, 2023

Dear all,

I am writing to invite you to participate in Generation Vassar, a fundraising effort for the Vassar Fund, which supports financial aid, teaching and learning, and the general operations of the college. Some of you have participated in the past and we hope more will this year. For alums, this appeal comes with a competition—to see which classes within each decade can achieve the highest proportion of their class participating with any size donation.

Participating in Generation Vassar means you will help us educate our students and youngest alums on the importance of philanthropy. The challenge runs during the month of February and encourages participation through gifts of any amount. Generation Vassar is an essential part of the Fearlessly Consequential campaign.

Your donation can be designated to support Financial Aid, Carbon Neutrality and Sustainability, Teaching and Learning, and many other areas of campus life that help the College thrive and be a fulfilling place to work. Our collective generosity makes a difference in the lives of our students.

John and I have pledged a matching gift of $10,000, hoping to double the impact of faculty, administrator, and staff gifts. We know that employees generously contribute to the College Community Works campaign and not all have the means to make other contributions; however, you are invited if you would like to participate. Advancement tracks the contributions, but no amounts are disclosed to other administrative staff.

Each of you gives so much to Vassar. The College would not exist without your dedication and commitment to students and each other. Generation Vassar is a part of continuing our commitment to the Vassar experience. You can learn more about the effort at vassar.edu/genvc and consider making a gift today.

Many thanks,

Elizabeth H. Bradley, President
