Veterans Day

November 7, 2022

Dear all,

A reminder, that this Friday, November 11th is Veterans Day. We are so very fortunate to have a robust Vassar Veterans Initiative, which recruits and supports veterans on our campus and enriches us all.

On Wednesday, November 9th, come learn more from veterans who have chosen to continue to serve their communities post military service in a panel titled Service after Service (6:30 pm in Rocky 300). The panel explores what service looks like both in the military and in the civilian sector and what causes veterans to continue to seek acts of service when it is no longer a job requirement. Brittany Andrade, a current Vassar student and veteran, will moderate the panel of recent graduate and veteran Francisco Andrade, current student and veteran Nicole Leadenham, Professor Jaime Del Razo (veteran, professor of Education, and House Fellow), and Professor Abigail Baird (professor of Psychological Science).

On Friday (Veterans Day) from 11 a.m.–1 p.m., the Vassar Veterans Association will also offer a fun challenge at the Weinberg Track where students will have a chance to participate in Relay Races and win gift cards. Food provided at both events.

Finally, please join me in taking time this week to thank our veterans, and to remind ourselves how much we owe them—including those who have already served their country, those who are serving now, and those who will serve in the future.
