COVID-19 Updates

February 11, 2022

Dear all,

I am writing to provide information related to a recent spike in student cases on campus. In the last few days, we have experienced a substantial increase in students testing positive with COVID-19. The increase is, for the most part, the result of spread among several friend groups, the majority of whom are experiencing mild symptoms (e.g., runny nose, sore throat, headache).  In this context, please see the following updates:

DINING

The extended hours of the Retreat and the food truck for grab-n’-go dining will be maintained until Spring Break.

COVID-19 TEST VENDING MACHINE

As part of our ongoing efforts to provide as many testing options as possible for students, we have installed a vending machine that dispenses rapid COVID-19 self-tests. The vending machine is located in College Center in the 24-Hour room, in the old bookstore location. Students will be able to use their V-cards to access a self-test from the vending machine for a cost of one dollar every 48 hours.

If you test positive with an at-home COVID-19 self-test, please make sure to mask with two masks and isolate from others. If you test positive during regular business hours, call Health Services at (845) 437-5800. If you test positive during after hours, call the CRC (845) 437-5221 and await further instructions.

CONTINUED MASKING

Although the State mandate for indoor masking has been lifted, we as a private institution will continue to require masking indoors, as we want to limit spread to the degree possible. Please know that we have not seen spread from activities in a classroom or meetings. The spread seemed related to social activities. Please continue to wear masks indoors unless you are alone or with your roommate or apartment mates only or you are sitting down actively eating or drinking or undertaking strenuous exercise. We have not changed any of the masking requirements on campus.

Thank you to everyone for maintaining vigilance as we continue to enjoy time together on campus. Spring is coming!
