Important Updates on Commencement for the Class of 2020: Location Change

May 28, 2022

Dear all,

Good morning!  I am writing with an important update regarding today’s Commencement Ceremony. We have decided to move the Commencement Ceremony indoors to the Athletic and Fitness Center at the original start time of 10:30 a.m. Based on today’s weather forecast, we did not think hosting Commencement outdoors would be safe or enjoyable. Needless to say, today’s Ceremony will be festive, fun, and exciting wherever it takes place—we are here to celebrate!

Below are several quick notes given the change in location:

  • COVID-19 Protocols: Mask wearing is encouraged, but if you have taken a test and received a negative result in the last 24–36 hours you should feel free to unmask.
  • Faculty/Alumni Line-Up: Faculty and members of the Class of 2020 who are marching in Commencement should go to Bay 1 of Walker Field House by 9:45 a.m.
  • Livestreaming: The Commencement Ceremony will still be livestreamed at https://www.vassar.edu/commencement/ceremony.
  • Pictures: The weather is not scheduled to get bad until 11 a.m. If you would like to take pictures at Graduation Hill, feel free to do so this morning before 9:45 a.m.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding. Look forward to celebrating with you later this morning!
