A Message Regarding the Terror Attacks in Sri Lanka

Dear all,

I am writing to express deep sorrow and horror at the violent terror attacks that occurred in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, with the most recent death toll at more than 350 people and an additional more than 500 injured. Suicide bombers attacked three churches during services, and bombs also exploded in hotels, and other sites in the cities of Columbo, Negombo, and Batticoloa, Sri Lanka. This is reported to be the largest attack targeting South Asian Christians in recent memory.

Our thoughts are with the South Asian community on campus and beyond. There will be a gathering convened by the South Asian Students Association and Reverend Sam Speers from the office of Religious & Spiritual Life and Contemplative Practices at 5pm Friday in the ALANA Center for those who wish to be present together.

If you are in need of support please contact the Counseling Service during regular business hours at (845) 437-5700 or the Counselor on Call after normal business hours by calling the Campus Response Center at (845) 437-7333.
