A message from the Board: Spring Board of Trustees Meeting

May 27, 2025

Dear all,

We are writing to update you on the recent Spring Board of Trustees Meeting.

It was a busy weekend for the Board, but we thought we would highlight a few of their key activities below:

  • Board members had dinner with graduating seniors who had won competitive fellowships (both Vassar fellowships and external fellowships). This dinner was hosted by the Student and Academic Affairs Committee of the Board.
  • Board members had lunch with several faculty members who were part of a group that worked to assess the workload and compensation of the role of Department Chair/Program Director.
  • Board members took tours of the Bartlett Center for Admission and Career Education and the Old Laundry Building.
  • The Board honored retiring trustees (Tyrone Forman ‘92, Robyn Field ‘86) and retiring Student Observer to the Board (Emily Doucet ’25) and retiring Faculty Observer to the Board (Natalie Frank) with a special dinner in the Alumnae House.
  • The Board voted to approve the recommended Contract Extension, Reappointment, and Promotion to Associate Professor with Indeterminate Tenure of several faculty members. The Board also approved the conferral of Emerita/us status to several retiring faculty members.
  • And, the Board voted to confer degrees to the graduates of the Class of 2025! Congratulations to all the graduated seniors! The Board could not be more proud of your accomplishments.

Thank you to the many different groups on campus who helped make the Board meeting successful. The Chair of the Board, Sharon Chang will be coming to campus in the Fall semester to meet with students and again in the Spring semester to meet with faculty. If you (or a group you are a part of) want to express interest in meeting with Chair Chang while she is on campus, please write to Wesley Dixon, Secretary of the Board of Trustees, at wdixon@vassar.edu.

Have a great summer!
