Elizabeth Bradley, President and Professor of Political Science and Science, Technology and Society, has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in the Leadership, Policy, and Communications area.
This tremendous honor recognizes Betsy’s pioneering public health efforts, impressive number of publications, and thoughtful engagement with higher education research in the U.S. The Academy also highlighted the innovative international partnerships Betsy has established at Vassar, including those that celebrate the liberal arts model and its potential to shape a better collective future.
Founded during the American Revolution, the Academy is “both an honorary society that recognizes and celebrates the excellence of its members and an independent research center convening leaders from across disciplines, professions, and perspectives to address significant challenges.”
In her membership, Betsy joins numerous luminaries, from historical figures such as George Washington to contemporaries like Anderson Cooper. She also joined numerous illustrious Vassar women who were selected to join before her—Maria Mitchell, Vera Rubin, Admiral Grace Hopper, Debra Elmegreen, and Fran Fergusson.
