The Center for Open Science has awarded Joshua de Leeuw, Associate Professor of Cognitive Science, a new grant to create an Open Source Framework (OSF) add-on for his existing DataPipe service.

DataPipe is a tool for connecting data collection directly to OSF storage. It can be used by researchers who collect behavioral data online and want to immediately deposit their data into an OSF component, thereby creating “born-open” data, or data that are public at the point of collection. This facilitates data sharing by removing extra uploading steps after collection and also provides researchers with the means to use OSF as a data collection server, eliminating the need for paid services to provide this functionality.

Configuring data storage for online experiments can require technical knowledge that many researchers aren't trained in, or, alternatively, paying for a service that solves those types of problems. DataPipe also eliminates the need for technical knowledge in web servers or the need to pay for that expertise.
