Joshua de Leeuw, Associate Professor of Cognitive Science, Receives Supplemental NSF POSE Grant

Joshua de Leeuw, Associate Professor of Cognitive Science, received supplemental grant funding from the National Science Foundation for his current grant project “POSE: Phase II: An Open-Source Ecosystem for Behavioral Experiments,” which is supporting the creation of an open-source ecosystem for behavioral experiments centered around jsPsych. Valeria Inojosa, the project’s Open-Source Community Manager, worked closely with Josh to secure this new funding.
Josh created jsPsych, an open-source JavaScript framework for designing behavioral experiments fit to run on web browsers. Its toolkit grows organically from a community of plugin developers who contribute to expanding the product’s functionality across new experimental paradigms.
NSF’s POSE program (Pathways to Enable Open-Source Ecosystems) seeks to “harness the power of open-source development for the creation of open-source ecosystems to advance key technologies and address problems of national, societal, and geostrategic importance.” Supplemental grant funding will support professional development and collaboration opportunities for the project team, including travel to relevant national conferences.
