Shoalzheimer: A Book Talk by Raphaël Sigal

Location:

Chicago Hall Lower Level Lounge 102

Raphaël Sigal’s grandmother lived through the Holocaust when she was just a child. As she began to lose her memory towards the end of her life, Sigal decided to write her story, limiting himself to what she had passed on to him. But how do you tell a life story from these few clues? In this talk, Raphaël Sigal will reflect on the relationship between writing, forgetfulness, and transgenerational trauma.

This talk is sponsored by the Department of French and Francophone Studies and cosponsored by the Department of History.
