All Photographs Tell the Truth: A Gallery Talk with Judy Linn

Jun. 17, 2023, 3:00–4:30 p.m.
Location:

Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, Atrium & Hoene Hoy Photography Gallery

Join photographer Judy Linn in conversation with Jessica Brier, Curator of Photography, to discuss Linn's unique perspective on photography’s history and practice, reflected in the current Loeb Art Center exhibition The Hairy Leg Or What To Do Wrong. In honor of Linn’s retirement from teaching photography at Vassar College after almost 25 years, she was invited to select works from the Loeb’s permanent collection of photography. The result is a diverse and idiosyncratic assortment of photographs by Diane Arbus, Sid Grossman, Helen Levitt, Barbara Morgan, and others. Together, they tell a story of photography that breaks its own rules. The conversation will touch on Linn's experiences as an educator and photographer, and the collaborative process of curating the exhibition.
