Vassar received institutional funding from Interfaith America (IA) through the Prejudice to Pluralism initiative. The co-PIs on the grant are Rev. Callista Isabelle, Associate Dean of the College for Religious and Spiritual Life and Contemplative Practices; Kimberly Williams Brown, Associate Professor of Education and Director of Engaged Pluralism; and Carlos Alamo, Dean of the College and Professor of Sociology.
Under the direction of Colleen Mallet, Director of Veteran Students Outreach and Support, Vassar secured a new grant from the Watertown Committee of the David, Helen and Marian Woodward Fund to continue supporting the Woodward Fund Veterans Internships. This funding enables Vassar veterans to participate in summer internships that might not otherwise be possible due to financial constraints.
Wendy Maragh Taylor, Associate Dean of the College for Student Growth and Engagement, and Leora Gansworth, Assistant Professor of Native American Studies, are the co-project leads for a new Capacity-Building Grant from the Educating Character Initiative (ECI), a project of The Program for Leadership and Character at Wake Forest University. ECI offers these Capacity-Building Grants to “provide institutions with the time, resources, and support to discern how character education works best in their context.”
The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center was awarded an Implementation Grant by the Terra Foundation for American Art to support the reinstallation of Vassar’s Hudson River School paintings, a core feature of the College’s art collection.
Vassar’s Environmental Cooperative recently received a new grant from the City of Poughkeepsie to fund transportation for both the Outing Club and this summer’s Exploring Science program. Both programs collaborate with already-established, Poughkeepsie-based youth programs, and transportation funding is vital to ensuring access for participants from across the area.
Vassar benefits from the partnership of the Davis United World College Scholars Program, which provides scholarship funding to financial aid-eligible Davis United World College Scholars—graduates of the 18 international UWC high schools attending more than 100 U.S. post-secondary partner institutions.
Jen Rubbo, Director of the Environmental Cooperative, received New York State grant funding to support Vassar’s Exploring Science program. Through this grant, local youth, ages 18–21, will be hired as interns to work alongside Vassar undergraduates and provide summer programming for PreK–12 students, including opportunities to learn about nature, “think like a scientist,” and engage with the Preserve.
The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center has secured a grant from the Joan Mitchell Foundation for the conservation of “Lyric,” a 1951 oil on canvas by the late American artist Joan Mitchell (1925–1992).
The Dyson Foundation awarded a grant to the Wimpfheimer’s playground equipment fund drive, which in summer 2025 raised more than $40,000 from Wimpfheimer families and friends.
