Disability Working Group

The working group is driven by a strong desire to engage in collaborative thinking about the potential of a “liberatory access” framework and its ability to bring about significant change in various aspects of our educational institution.

This enthusiasm extends to the reimagining of access, as described by Mia Mingus, with a specific emphasis on cultivating connections, advancing justice, nurturing community, fostering love, and ultimately striving for liberation. This dedication to genuine access underscores the necessity of adopting an intersectional approach, one that acknowledges the interconnectedness of disability with broader societal issues like colonialism, race, class, gender, sexuality, citizenship, body image, and the intricate web of factors that shape our social landscape. In our pursuit of these goals, we firmly reject any compromise between ensuring accessibility and considering aesthetic or prestige-related concerns. Instead, we firmly believe that, through careful planning and unwavering commitment, we can successfully integrate all of these crucial elements into our campus, curriculum, teaching methods, and educational support services.
