Men’s Soccer

Vassar (7-3-3, 3-0-3 Liberty League) and St. Lawrence University remained the only unbeaten teams in Liberty League play, battling to a 1-1 draw October 15 on the St. Lawrence campus in Canton, NY. St. Lawrence got on the scoreboard 14 seconds into the game, but Ryan Lane ’23 tied the score in the 39th minute on a pass from Owen Fauth ’23.

Duncan Keker ’25 scored in the 61st minute to lift the Brewers to a 1-1 tie with Clarkson University October 14 on the Clarkson campus in Potsdam, NY. Keker converted a pass from Kinlay Watkins ’23.

Vassar and Skidmore College battled to a 2-2 tie October 8 on the Skidmore campus in Saratoga Springs, NY. Keker and Fauth scored in the first half, but Skidmore countered with a pair of goals after the intermission.

Lane scored in the 26th minute, propelling the Brewers to a 1-0 victory over Liberty League rival Union College October 1 on Gordon Field. 

Keker scored in the third minute of the game, and Vassar went on to blank Bard College, 2-0, September 28 on the Bard campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. Fauth scored an insurance goal in the second half.

The Brewers opened the Liberty League season with a 4-0 win over Rochester Institute of Technology September 24 on Gordon Field. Keker scored a pair of goals. Watkins had a goal and an assist.

Jackson Hall ’25 scored early in the first half and the Vassar defense did the rest in a 1-0 win over Manhattanville College September 20 on the Manhattanville campus in Purchase, NY.

Montclair State University midfielder Arner Lukovic broke a 1-1 tie in the 73rd minute to lift Montclair to a 2-1 victory over Vassar September 17 at Gordon Field. Fauth scored the Brewers’ only goal six minutes into the game.

Fauth scored a pair of goals in the first half, and the Brewers went on to defeat SUNY New Paltz, 2-1, September 14 on the SUNY campus. He scored the first goal in the third minute of the game on a pass from Lane and buried a penalty kick in the 27th minute.

Stevens Institute of Technology limited the Brewers to two shots on goal and posted a 2-0 victory September 10 on the Stevens campus in Hoboken, NJ.

Vassar scored three goals in the first 26 minutes and went on to defeat SUNY Cobleskill, 5-0, September 7 on Gordon Field. Keker opened the scoring in the 14th minute on an assist from Brandon Liu ’25. Lane added an unassisted goal two minutes later.

Derek Sando ’24 scored a pair of goals to pace Vassar to a 4-0 win over Mount Saint Mary September 4 on the Mount Saint Mary campus in Newburgh, NY.

The Brewers opened the season with a 1-0 loss to Western Connecticut State University September on Gordon Field. Goalkeeper Eric Wnorowski ’23 recorded three saves.

Women’s Soccer

Powered by two goals apiece by Violet Munnelly ’23 and Claire Karlin ’24, Vassar (7-4-3, 3-2-1 Liberty League) cruised to a 6-1 victory over St. Lawrence University October 15 on Gordon Field. 

Clarkson University scored the only goal of the game in the 78th minute, defeating Vassar, 1-0, October 14 on Gordon Field. 

Jessica Young ’23 scored on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute to salvage a 1-1 tie with Skidmore College October 8 on Gordon Field. Vassar outshot the Thoroughbreds, 10-1.

Karlin scored three minutes into the game, and the Brewers went on to blank Russell Sage College, 4-0, October 5 on Gordon Field. Noelle Namba ’25 added a goal and an assist, and Ariana Pjetri ’24 and Madison Bouggess ’25 each scored a goal.

Vassar fell to Union College, 1-0, October 1 on the Union campus in Schenectady, NY. London Wilkes ’25 had two of Vassar’s four shots on goal.

Karlin scored three goals to power Vassar to a 7-0 win over Bard College September 28 on Gordon Field. 

Namba scored an unassisted goal to lead the Brewers to a 1-0 victory over Rochester Institute of Technology September 24 on the RIT campus.

Vassar and Wesleyan University battled to a 0-0 draw September 20 on the Wesleyan campus in Middletown, CT. Keeper Teresa Zimmer ’24 had four saves.

Bouggess broke a scoreless tie in the 71st minute, propelling the Brewers to a 1-0 victory over SUNY Oneonta September 17 on the Oneonta, NY, campus. 

Vassar scored two early goals and blanked Western Connecticut State University, 2-0, September 14 on Gordon Field. Jacqueline Morrison ’24 scored on a pass from Munnelly in the 14th minute, and Isabel Leinenweber ’23 scored 14 minutes later on an assist from Sydney MacDonald ’23.

Riley McGrath ’26 scored in the 65th minute, and the Brewers defeated the University of Scranton, 1-0, September 10 on the Scranton, PA, campus. Jacqueline Morrison ’25 assisted on the goal.

Goalkeeper Zimmer stopped five shots in the Brewers’ 0-0 tie with New York University September 4 on Gordon Field.

Vassar fell to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 2-1, in the season opener September 1 on the campus of Rye Country Day School in Rye, NY. Bouggess scored from 20 yards out.

Field Hockey

The Brewers (9-4, 3-2 Liberty League) lost to William Smith College, 1-0, in overtime on October 16 on the William Smith campus in Geneva, NY. Vassar had a 5-3 edge in shots on goal.

Leilani Llamas ’25 scored the winning goal in a stroke-off against the University of Rochester October 14 on Weinberg Turf Field. Gianna Trunfio ’25 scored Vassar’s first goal.

Trunfio and Avery Bauman ’23 led a balanced scoring attack two goals apiece in Vassar’s 8-0 win over Union College October 8 on Weinberg Turf Field. Hailey Brigger ’24 had a goal and two assists.

Llamas scored in double overtime to lift the Brewers to a 2-1 victory over 20th-ranked SUNY Cortland October 4 on Weinberg Turf Field. Maggie Werner ’24 scored Vassar’s first goal on the Brewers’ first shot of the game early in the second half. Llamas was named Liberty League Offensive Player of the Week.

Ithaca College scored with 1:38 remaining in the fourth quarter, defeating Vassar, 1-0, October 1 on the Ithaca, NY, campus. Goalkeeper Sarah Dumaresq ’24 stopped three Ithaca shots.

Vassar opened the Liberty League season with a 5-1 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute September 24 on the RPI campus in Troy, NY. Trunfio and  Brigger each scored twice.

The Brewers snapped a two-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over Ramapo September 17 in Mahwah, NJ. Trunfio opened the scoring at 2:13 of the first period on an assist from Adah Anderson ’24. Llamas scored the eventual game winner in the fourth period, and Jaclyn Narleski ’24 added an insurance goal less than two minutes later.

Vassar registered six shots on goal but lost to Montclair (NJ) State University, 4-0, September 4 on the Montclair campus. Dumaresq had three saves.

Vassar fell to ninth-ranked Kean (NJ) State University, 2-1 in overtime, September 10 on the Kean campus in Union, N.J. Werner scored the Brewers’ goal on a rebound of a shot by Ella Pearl ’23.

The Brewers posted their third shutout of the season September 7 on Weinberg Turf Field, blanking Western Connecticut State University, 5-0. Pearl scored twice. Llamas had a goal and two assists.

Vassar won the Betty Richey Tournament with victories over Stevens Institute of Technology and Endicott College September 3 and 4 on Weinberg Turf Field. The Brewers defeated Stevens, 3-0, and posted a 5-2 win over Endicott in a game that was halted with 5:48 to play due to lightning. Brigger scored three goals in the championship game.

The Brewers opened the season with a 3-0 victory over Smith College September 1 on the Smith campus in Northampton, MA. Brigger, Tori Baker ’25, and Alexa Gwyn ’25 scored the goals.

Men’s Cross Country

Vassar posted an 18th-place finish in a 23-team field at the Connecticut College Invitational October 15 in Waterford, CT. Miles Takiguchi ’23 was 19th overall, posting a time of 24:52.4 in the 8k race.

Vassar finished 29th in a 45-team field at the Paul Short Invitational October 1 on the campus of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. Takiguchi finished fourth among all Division III runners with a time of 24:22.0 on the 8k course.

Led by Takiguchi’s winning performance, Vassar finished second in an eight-team field at the Ronald C. Hoffman Invitational September 24 on the St. Lawrence University campus in Canton, NY. Takiguchi won the 8k race in 25:28.7. Davis Anderson ’26 was ninth with a season-best time of 26:59.2.

Takiguchi paced Vassar to a win in a nine-team field at the Ron Stonitsch Invitational September 10 at Vassar Farm. Takiguchi posted the winning time of 18:49.1 in the 6k race. Jose Magana ’25 was seventh overall in 19:54.2, and Aidan Mayer ’24 was eighth with a time of 19:54.5.

Vassar and New York University finished in a tie for first in a six-team field at the Vassar Season Starter September 1 at Vassar Farm. Takiguchi and Simon LaClair ’24 were second and third, respectively, to pace the Brewers in the 4k race. 

Women’s Cross Country

Augusta Stockman ’23 finished 22nd overall at the Connecticut College Invitational October 15 in Waterford, CT. Stockman posted a time of 22:24.1 in the 6k event. Vassar finished 15th in the 22-team field.

Stockman finished 38th overall at the Paul Short Invitational October 1 on the Lehigh University campus in Bethlehem, PA. Stockman posted a time of 22:02.9 on the 6k course. Vassar finished 24th in the 46-team field.

Vassar finished second in an eight-team field September 24 at the Ronald C. Hoffman Invitational on the St. Lawrence University campus in Canton, NY. Stockman finished third overall on the 6k course with a time of 23:17.6.

Stockman was first across the finish line in 19:14.0 at the Ron Stonitsch Invitational September 10 at Vassar Farm. Vassar defeated nine other teams. Noni Pattington ’25 was third overall in the 5k race with a time of 19:42.8.

The Brewers finished second in a six-team field at the Vassar Season Starter September 1 at Vassar Farm. Stockman led Vassar with a fourth-place finish. New York University won the event.

Women’s Volleyball

The Brewers (4-15, 3-3 Liberty League) split a pair of matches October 15 in Kenyon Hall, defeating Liberty League rival St. Lawrence University but losing to Kean University in straight sets. The Brewers battled back from a two-set deficit against St. Lawrence, winning the last three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-11, and 15-9. Frannie Anthony-Brumfield ’25 had a season-high 18 kills and added four digs in the win over St. Lawrence.

Vassar lost two of three matches October 7 and 8 on the campus of Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA. The Brewers lost in straight sets to Thiel University and Susquehanna but edged Neumann University in five sets. Morgan Miller ’25 had 17 kills, and Maya Levine ’24 had a career-high 32 digs in the win over Neumann. 

Vassar defeated Bard College in straight sets October 5 at Kenyon Hall. Miller had nine kills, two blocks, and 11 digs. Hailey Hayes ’25 had eight kills, eight digs, and two blocks.

The Brewers lost in the straight sets to William Smith College October 1 in Geneva, NY. Miller registered a team-high eight kills.

Vassar fell in four sets to Union College September 28 on the Union campus in Schenectady, NY. Molly Delahunty ’26 registered 12 kills.

Clarkson University defeated Vassar in four sets September 24 in Kenyon Hall. Hayes had nine kills.

The Brewers posted their first win of the season, defeating Skidmore College in five sets September 23 at Kenyon Hall. Delahunty had 13 kills and three blocks, and Hayes added 12 kills, 10 digs, and three service aces.

Vassar dropped a pair of matches to Catholic University and Cabrini University September 17 on the Cabrini campus in Radnor, PA. The Brewers fell to Catholic University in five sets and lost in straight sets to Cabrini. Hayes led Vassar with 12 kills in the loss to Catholic University. 

Vassar fell to Williams College in straight sets September 14 at Kenyon Hall. Delahunty had a team-high five kills and a service ace. Miller registered four kills and an ace.

The Brewers dropped a pair of matches at Kenyon Hall September 10. The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy swept Vassar in straight sets, while Muhlenberg College posted a 3-1 victory. Ava Casalino ’24 had six kills in the match against the Merchant Marine Academy. Hayes had 15 kills in the loss to Muhlenberg.

The Brewers dropped three matches September 2 and 3 on the campus of DeSales University in Center Valley, PA. The Brewers fell to DeSales September 2 in three sets. They lost to Stevenson University in straight sets and to Rutgers University–Camden in four sets on September 3. Hayes had nine kills in the loss to Stevenson and seven in the loss to Rutgers.

Men’s Tennis

Fernando Bauermeister ’26 and Nolan Kubiak ’26 fell in the doubles quarterfinals, 8-3, to a team from St. Lawrence University at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regionals October 1 in Madison, NJ. Bauermeister and Kubiak opened the tournament with an 8-4 win over a team from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Women’s Tennis

Tatum Blalock ’23 and Erin McCusker ’26 advanced to the quarterfinals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional Championships September 24 at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY. Jade Wilkinson ’23 won the first round of the consolation singles.

Women’s Golf

Sufana Noorwez ’24 posted a score of 72 to lead Vassar to a victory over Mount Saint Mary College October 9 at Casperkilll Golf Club in Poughkeepsie, NY. Noorwez was three under par on the back nine, posting a 33. Peiyun Wu ’26 was second overall with a 99.

Noorwez was Vassar’s top scorer at the George Phinney Classic October 1 and 2 at Middlebury (VT) College. Noorwez posted scores of 92 and 86 and finished 43rd.  Hannah Levine ’25 was 64th with rounds of 96 and 104.

Noorwez finished in a tie for seventh place overall in the Wesleyan Invitational September 17 and 18 at Lyman Orchards in Middlefield, CT. She carded scores of 85 and 82 on the par 72 course.

Noorwez was Vassar’s top performer at the Hamilton College Fall Invitational September 10 and 11 in New Hartford, NY. She was 45th overall with a score of 172 (88-84). 

Men’s Rugby

Hofstra University posted an 80-12 win over Vassar October 16 at Vassar Farm. Jack O’Brien ’25 and Tyler Eberts ’23 scored tries for the Brewers.

Vassar fell to SUNY Maritime, 32-5, October 10 at Vassar Farm. Hector Contreras ’23 scored the Brewers’ lone try.

Women’s Rugby

Vassar defeated crosstown rival Marist College, 67-5, October 16 at Vassar Farm. Caeli Porette ’23 had five tries.

Asia Baker ’24 and Sophia Bailey ’26 each scored three tries in Vassar’s 48-15 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute October 10 at Vassar Farm.

The Brewers blanked SUNY Albany, 95-0, October 1 at Vassar Farm.

Vassar opened the season with a 22-17 victory over Boston University September 18 on the BU campus. Baker scored three tries.
