Norbert de la Cruz III to Choreograph for VRDT

A portrait of Norbert de la Cruz III. They are seated in a three-quarter pose, turned slightly to the side with one hand resting against their chin. They have short dark hair and wear a sleeveless, dark blue knitted top. The lighting is soft and directional, casting gentle shadows that define the contours of the face and shoulder. The background is plain and dimly lit, keeping the focus on the subject.

Norbert de la Cruz III is a multi-talented award winning choreographer whose work has been presented by preeminent dance companies around the US. After graduating from Juilliard, Norbert was invited to create new works for contemporary companies including BalletX, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Hubbard Street 2, and Nashville Ballet. His work has been supported by awards from the Princess Grace Foundation, The Jerome Robbins Foundation, and NYCB's New York Choreographic Institute. Norbert’s artistic work interrogates themes of representation, identity, queerness, and the complexities of the human experience. At Vassar, Norbert is working with 12 dancers to create an original piece for the fall VRDT Concert.
