Men’s Volleyball

The #1 Vassar College Men’s Volleyball team triumphed over St. John Fisher 25-16, 25-17, 25-18 to win its second United Volleyball Conference Championship in program history on Sunday afternoon in front of a sellout crowd at Kenyon Hall. Jacob Kim ’24 was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Vassar now heads into the NCAA tournament with a record of 24-1.

The Brewers ran their winning streak to 22 games with straight-set victories over Messiah University and Ramapo College April 8 at Kenyon Hall. Andrew Kim ’23 had 11 kills in the victory over Messiah. Joseph Harrington ’23 registered 12 kills in the win over Ramapo.

Propelled by a raucous, capacity crowd, Vassar defeated top-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology in five sets April 6 in Kenyon Hall. Stevens won two of the first three sets, but the Brewers rallied to win the fourth, 25-23, and closed out the match with a 15-8 win in the tiebreaker. The victory avenged Vassar’s only loss of the season. Andrew Kim registered 20 kills, three service aces, and one block. Gavin van Beveren ’23 had 15 kills and seven blocks, and Billy Fan ’25 had 14 kills.

Vaughn Ramsey ’24 registered 14 kills in Vassar’s 3-0 win over American International College April 1 on the campus of Springfield (MA) College.

The Brewers defeated fourth-ranked Springfield College, 3-2, March 31 on the Springfield (MA) campus. Kills by Andrew Kim and Adam Gulick ’23 in the fifth set put the Brewers ahead for good.

The Brewers extended their winning streak to a record 16 games with a 3-0 win over New York University March 25 in New York City. Jacob Kim had five kills, 26 assists, two blocks, and four digs.

Vassar defeated Monroe College in straight sets March 17 in Kenyon Hall. Ramsey had seven kills, and Jacob Kim finished with 37 assists.

Three Brewers registered 10 or more kills in Vassar’s 3-1 win over Elmira College March 4 in Elmira, NY. Andrew Kim had 13 kills, four assists and three aces. Gulick had 12 kills, three blocks and eight digs, and van Beveren finished with 10 kills, two blocks and two digs.

Andrew Kim recorded 20 kills, three blocks, and three digs in Vassar’s 3-1 win over Misericordia University March 3 on the Misericordia campus in Dallas, PA.

Vassar post victories over two of the top 10 teams in the country February 24 and 25 at Kenyon Hall. The Brewers defeated sixth-ranked St. John Fisher University, 3-0, and blanked ninth-ranked Nazareth College. Andrew Guaragno ’24 had a team-high 12 kills against St. John Fisher. Gavin Akoto ’25 had 10 blocks in the win over Nazareth.

Women’s Tennis

St. Lawrence University edged Vassar, 5-4, April 8 in Walker Field House. Macey Dowd ’25 won her #2 singles match and teamed with Iris Li ’26 for an 8-5 win in doubles.

Vassar swept all nine matches against Rochester Institute of Technology March 25 at Walker Field House. Erin McCusker ’26 won her #1 singles match, 6-0, 6-3, and teamed with Sofie Shen ’24 for an 8-6 win in doubles.

California Institute of Technology defeated Vassar, 5-4, on March 8 on the Caltech campus in Pasadena, CA. Dowd posted a comeback victory at #2 singles, dropping the first set, 6-1, but winning the next two, 6-3 and 6-2.

Vassar posted a 6-3 win over Occidental College March 7 on the Occidental campus in Los Angeles. Shen won her #5 singles match and teamed with McCusker for a win in #1 doubles.

McCusker won her #1 singles match and teamed with Shen for a victory in #1 doubles in Vassar’s 9-0 win over Whittier College. The match was played on the Whittier (CA) campus on March 6.

Vassar fell to Swarthmore College, 5-4, February 26 on the Swarthmore (PA) campus. Li won her #5 singles match, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, and teamed with Dowd for an 8-3 win in doubles.

Men’s Tennis

Fernando Bauermeister ’26 won his #1 singles and #1 doubles matches in Vassar’s 7-2 win over St. Lawrence University April 8 on Josselyn Tennis Courts.

Vassar defeated Liberty League rival Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 7-2, April 1 on the Josselyn Courts. Bauermeister won his #1 singles match, 6-3, 7-6 and teamed with Nolan Kubiak ’26 for an 8-7 win in doubles.

The Brewers swept New Jersey City University, 9-0, March 26 at Walker Field House. Bauermeister won a tiebreaker, 10-2, in his #1 singles match and teamed with Kubiak for an 8-3 victory in doubles.

Vassar defeated the United States Coast Guard Academy, 8-1, March 25 at Walker Field House. Ethan Mantell ’26 and James Balon ’25 won their singles matches and teamed up for a win in doubles.

Kubiak posted wins in singles and doubles in Vassar’s 5-4 victory against nationally-ranked Chapman College March 11 in Newport Beach, CA. Kubiak won his singles match, 3-6, 6-1, 6-0, and posted an 8-4 win in doubles with Bauermeister.

Mantell won his #6 singles match and teamed with Balon for a win in doubles in Vassar’s 7-2 loss to the University of Redlands March 8 in Redlands, CA.

The Brewers edged California Lutheran College, 5-4, March 7 on the Cal Lutheran campus in Thousand Oaks, CA. Kubiak won his #3 singles match and teamed with Bauermeister for a win in doubles.

Kubiak and Arnav Agostinho ’25 posted singles victories in Vassar’s 7-2 loss to Occidental College March 6 on the Occidental campus in Los Angeles.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology defeated the Brewers, 7-2, February 25 on the MIT campus in Cambridge, MA. Bauermeister won his #1 singles match, 6-4, 6-3.

Baseball

Vassar rallied from a five-run deficit to defeat City College of New York, 11-7, April 12 at Prentiss Field. Ricardo Reyna ’25 hit a two-run double in the sixth inning to put the Brewers ahead for good.

Skidmore College swept a double header at Prentiss Field April 8 by scores of 8-6 and 13-11. Reid Lapekas ’24 knocked in three runs with a single and a double in the first game. Andrew Kanellis ’23 had four hits and five RBIs in the second game.

The Brewers lost to Skidmore April 7 on the Skidmore campus in Saratoga Springs, NY by a score of 6-5. Lapekas had three hits and two RBIs.

Vassar and SUNY Oneonta split a pair of games April 1 and 2. The Brewers won the first game, 8-3, on the Oneonta, NY campus, and Oneonta won the second game, 2-0, on Prentiss Field. Ty Murray ’24 had a single a double and three RBIs in the win at Oneonta.

Dan Laderman ’25 drove in three runs with a single and a double in Vassar’s 12-8 victory over Old Westbury College. The game was played on March 29 on Prentiss Field.

The Brewers split a doubleheader against Bard College March 26 on the Bard campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. Bard won the first game, 8-2, but the Brewers won the second, 9-7. Vassar rallied from a 6-1 deficit in the second game with four runs in the eighth inning and three in the ninth. Sam Brinster ’23 knocked in the tying and winning runs with a single.

Vassar defeated Gettysburg College three times March 17 and 18 on the Gettysburg, PA campus. Kanellis knocked in three runs with a double and a home run in a 16-4 win on March 17. Lapekas singled and doubled in a 10-5 win in the first game of a doubleheader March 18. Adam Talwalkar ’23 singled twice and homered in the Brewers’ 12-11 victory in the second game.

The Brewers swept a doubleheader against Central College on March 13 in Auburndale, FL. Ezra Caspi ’23 knocked in six runs in a 16-7 win in the first game. Jensen Bergman ’26 singled twice, tripled, and drove in three runs in a 10-8 win in the second game.

Vassar dropped a pair of games at the RussMatt Invitational tournament March 12 in Davenport, FL. The Brewers lost to Thomas College, 9-4, and to Illinois Tech, 10-7. Kanellis and Lapekas each had two hits and an RBI in the loss to Thomas. Christian Baaki ’23 singled, doubled, and drove in a run in the loss to Illinois Tech.

Penn State Fayette erupted for 10 runs in the sixth inning and defeated Vassar, 15-9, March 9 in Winter Haven, FL. Laderman had three hits and knocked in two runs.

The Brewers swept a doubleheader against Wentworth College, 22-7 and 3-0, March 8 in Auburndale, FL. The Brewers had 24 hits in the first game. Luke Barrientos ’25 posted the win in the second game, pitching four scoreless innings. Collin Donnelly ’25 didn’t give up a hit in the final three innings.

Vassar rallied for a 6-4 win in the second game of a doubleheader against Ursinus College March 7 in Auburndale, FL. The Brewers dropped the first game, 7-4. Kanellis hit two home runs in the second game. Murray homered in the first game.

The Brewers opened the season by splitting a doubleheader at SUNY Purchase March 4. Vassar won the first game, 4-2, but dropped the second, 6-5. Reyna went 3-for-3 in the first game and stole home. Michael Came ’24 got the win, giving up just four hits and one earned run in five innings. Laderman had two hits and an RBI in the second game.

Women’s Track and Field

Vassar finished first in an eight-team field at the Vassar Invite April 7 on the Weinberg Track. The 4x100 relay team of Malinda Smith ’23, Ava Novak ’24, Lola Perez-Fry ’23, and Traci Francis ’25 opened the event with a victory. Freja Niklasson ’26 won the 400-meter hurdles.

Augusta Stockman ’23 propelled Vassar to a third-place finish in a field of 21 teams at the Ramapo (NJ) Invitational March 31 and April 1 in Mahwah, NJ. Stockman won the 1,500-meter run in 4:47.83, and she finished first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.0. Sophia Henderson ’25 finished second in the 800 in 2:23.65.

Jahmilia Dennis ’26 finished second in the long jump at the Monmouth Season Starter meet in West Long Branch, NJ on March 26.

The Brewers finished 19th in a 32-team field at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational March 17 and 18 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Stockman was 12th in the mile run.

Vassar finished 21st in a 41-team field at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships March 3 and 4 in New York City. Francis finished second in the 60-meter dash. Stockman was eighth in the 3,000-meter run.

Vassar finished fourth in an eight-team field in the team’s first appearance in the Liberty League Indoor Track and Field Championships. The event was held February 24 and 25 on the campus of Rochester (NY) Institute of Technology. Dennis won the triple jump with a mark of 11.39 meters, and she was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.27. Stockman finished second in the mile run with a time of 5:07.24. She was third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:13.90.

Men’s Track and Field

The Brewers finished third in a nine-team field at the Vassar Invite April 7 on Weinberg Track. Tim Buchan ’25 won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:03.43. Tim Jacques ’24 won the 800-meter run in 1:58.09.

Vassar finished 12th in a 21-team field at the Ramapo Invitational March 31 and April 1 in Mahwah, NJ. Buchan won the 1,500-meter run, posting a time of 3:58.18. Jose Magana ’25 was second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.56.

Lukas Muzila ’23 finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles at the Monmouth Season Starter meet in West Long Branch, NJ on March 26.

Vassar placed 23rd in a 42-team field at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships March 3 and 4 in New York City. Buchan posted a personal best 4:17.38 in the mile rum and finished eighth overall. Jacques was 16th in the 800-meter run in 1:57.26.

Vassar finished seventh in an eight-team field at the Liberty League Indoor Track and Field Championships February 24 and 25 on the campus of Rochester Institute of Technology. The men’s distance medley relay team of Nicholas Miller ’26, Jacques, Nick Redstone ’25, and Magana finished fourth. Max Bergman ’25 was 10th overall in the heptathlon, placing fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.84 and fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.6 meters.

Men’s Lacrosse

Ithaca College edged Vassar, 13-11, April 9 on the Ithaca, NY campus. Troy Santise ’24 scored three goals and assisted on another.

Skidmore College defeated Vassar, 13-10, April 1 on the Skidmore campus in Saratoga Springs, NY. Riley Olds ’23 scored three goals.

Stockton University defeated Vassar, 17-12, March 28 on Gordon Field. Santise and Dan Negron ’24 each scored a pair of goals for the Brewers.

Liberty League rival Rochester Institute of Technology, ranked third in the country, defeated the Brewers, 18-10, March 25 on Weinberg Turf Field. Jon Bradbury ’24 scored a pair of goals for the Brewers.

Ian Zumpano ’24 scored six goals in Vassar’s 15-12 victory over Merchant Marine Academy March 21 on Weinberg Turf Field. 

Vassar dropped its opening Liberty League contest of the season, falling to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 18-7, March 18 on Weinberg Turf Field. Olds had three goals and an assist.

Vassar defeated Mount Saint Mary College, 21-1, March 15 on the Mount Saint Mary campus in Newburgh, NY. Santise, Baker Morton ’26, and T.J. Carl ’26 each scored three goals.

Vassar defeated Wheaton College, 21-9, March 11 on Weinberg Turf Field. Shane O’Hara ’25 scored four goals and added an assist.

Santise scored five goals and assisted on two others in Vassar’s 17-16 win over Emerson College March 8 on the Emerson campus in Boston, MA. 

The Brewers used balanced scoring to defeat Lasell College, 13-5, March 4 on Weinberg Turf Field. Olds, Santise, and Nate Johnson ’26 each scored twice.

Olds and Zumpano each scored four goals in Vassar’s 15-9 victory over Keene (NH) State University March 1 on the Keene campus.

Vassar posted its first win of the season, 15-7, over Swarthmore College February 25 on Weinberg Turf Field. Zumpano scored three goals, and Olds and O’Hara each had two goals and two assists.

Montclair State University edged Vassar, 11-10, on February 22 on the Montclair, NJ campus. Olds and Santise each scored three goals for the Brewers.

Women’s Lacrosse

Reilly Mulcahy ’25 scored her fourth goal of the game with 31 seconds remaining to propel Vassar to a 13-12 victory over Ithaca College April 8 on Weinberg Turf Field.

Clarkson University defeated Vassar, 18-11, April 1 on the Clarkson campus in Potsdam, NY. Annie Uyeki ’23 scored three goals and assisted on three others.

Vassar posted a 13-10 victory over Liberty League rival Skidmore College March 28 on the Skidmore campus in Saratoga Springs, NY. Maddy Kretten ’23 scored three goals and assisted on two others. Emma Torkelson ’25 also tallied three times.

The University of Rochester defeated Vassar, 12-11, March 26 on the Rochester, NY campus. Kretten and Torkelson each scored three goals.

Mulcahy scored with 35 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Brewers to an 11-10 victory over Rochester Institute of Technology. The game was played on the RIT campus on March 24.

The Brewers finished a successful Florida trip with a 16-9 victory over Nazareth College on March 15 in Panama City, FL. Goalkeeper Lauren Johns ’24 registered 13 saves. Kretten had four goals and an assist, and Kali Ringler ’25 tallied three times.

Kretten scored six goals and assisted on three others in Vassar’s 23-12 victory over Eastern Connecticut State University on March 13 in Panama Beach, FL. 

Vassar fell to Western Connecticut State University, 16-8, March 1 on the WestConn campus in Danbury, CT. Kretten, Torkelson, and Uyeki each scored a pair of goals for the Brewers.

The Brewers opened the season with a 16-6 victory over Drew University February 24 on Weinberg Turf Field. Kretten scored five goals and assisted on three others. Uyeki and Tess Billings ’26 each scored twice.

Women’s Rugby

Brown University defeated the Brewers, 71-0, April 8 on the Brown campus in Providence, RI.

Vassar’s A team defeated Marist College, 19-5, Stony Brook University, 27-0, and Siena College, 29-12, but lost to Fairfield University, 20-5, April 2 at Vassar Farm. 

Claire Zickl ’23 scored a pair of tries in Vassar’s 36-5 win over Stony Brook University March 26 at Vassar Farm.

Vassar fell to the University of Zaragoza, 34-12, March 9 in Zaragoza, Spain. Yael Tuckman ’26 and Kasey Drake ’23 each scored tries, and Zoe Lynch ’25 kicked a conversion.

Vassar defeated Quimic Equip, 22-17, March 7 in Barcelona, Spain. Yasmeen Kassem-Scott ’26 scored two tries.

Men’s Rugby

The Brewers dropped a pair of games to Brown University April 8 on the Brown campus in Providence, RI. The A squad fell by a score of 20-0, and the B squad lost, 27-0.

Vassar won three of five matches at the Tri-State Conference 7s tournament April 1 at Vassar Farm. The Brewers defeated Seton Hall University, 10-0, Molloy University, 36-0, and Fairfield University, 15-14. The Brewers lost to tournament champion Marist College twice by scores of 34-0 and 28-5.

Vassar lost to Cornell University, 24-17, March 25 at Vassar Farm. Rowan Roshong ’23, Jack Gibberd ’25, and Bryce DiNardo ’24 scored tries for the Brewers.

Jack O’Brien ’25 scored Vassar’s lone try in the Brewers’ 63-5 loss to FC Barcelona March 8 in Barcelona, Spain.

Quimic Equip defeated Vassar, 54-7, March 7 in Barcelona, Spain. DiNardo scored for the Brewers.

Women’s Golf

Peiyun Wu ’26 was Vassar’s top finisher at the Vassar Invitational April 1 at the Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie. Wu carded a 91.

Men’s Rowing

Vassar’s Men’s 8 finished second at the Skidmore Regatta April 
1 on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, NY. Vassar competed against boats from Skidmore, Mount Holyoke, St. John Fisher, and Nazareth colleges. Members of the crew were coxswain Ellie Walsh ’25 and Will Clendenning ’23, Ben Vinson ’25, Jakob Huddleston ’23, Robert Gee ’26, Alex Roth ’24, T. Charles Martin ’26, Trygve Aarestad ’26, and Lucas Angles ’23.

Women’s Rowing

Vassar’s Women’s Four finished first at an event hosted by Skidmore College on April 1 on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, NY. Vassar competed against boats from Skidmore, Mount Holyoke, St. John Fisher, and Nazareth colleges. Rowers were Posey Whidden ’25, Elsie McKendry ’26, Anna Bishop ’25, Sarah Dumaresq ’24, and coxswain Abigail Straus ’25.

Women’s Basketball

Skidmore scored 15 of the final 19 points of the game in a 77-66 victory over Vassar (19-10, 15-5 Liberty League) in the semifinals of the Liberty League Championships on the Skidmore campus in Saratoga Springs, NY. Alex Lee ’23 capped her Vassar career with 23 points, and captain Eliza Srinivasan ’23 added 21.

Vassar advanced to the semifinals of the Liberty League Championship tournament with a 73-57 victory over Union College February 21 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Julia Harvey ’25 led all scorers with 17 points. Lee scored 16 and Srinivasan finished with 15.

Men’s Basketball

The Brewers (13-13, 9-9 Liberty League) closed the season with an 83-61 loss to Hobart College in the quarterfinals of the Liberty League playoffs February 21 on the Hobart campus in Geneva, NY. Jack Rothenberg ’23 and Avni Mustafaj ’23 finished their Vassar careers with 15 and 11 points, respectively.

Women’s Fencing

Olivia Barnes ’25 posted nine victories in epee competition and finished among the top 20 competitors at the NCAA Northeast Regional March 12 on the campus of Harvard University in Cambridge, MA.

Vassar’s epee squad won 44 of 48 matches to win the Northeast Intercollegiate Fencing Conference Championship February 25 at Wellesley (MA) College. Members of the squad were Barnes, Addy Xie ’25, and Sarah Boucher-Rowe ’26. 

Vassar dropped a pair of bouts to Yale University by scores of 20-7 and 22-5 February 22 at Walker Feld House. Boucher-Rowe won all three of her matches in epee in the first game. Hunter Grogan ’24 won twice in foil competition in the second.

Men’s Fencing

Oliver Berger ’26 finished 11th overall in sabre competition at the NCAA Northeast Regional tournament on March 12 at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. 

Vassar split a pair of bouts against Yale University February 22 in Walker Field House. The Brewers won the first contest, 16-11, but lost the second, also by a score of 16-11. Conor Travaglione ’23 was 3-0 in sabre in the first bout. Nicholas Gayle ’23 won two matches at sabre in the second bout.
