Men’s Basketball
The Brewers qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time in team history, defeating Hobart College, Ithaca College and Skidmore College in the Liberty League playoffs. Jack Rothenberg ’23, who was named tournament MVP, sank a three-point shot at the buzzer to propel Vassar to a 71-69 victory over Hobart February 22 at the Athletic and Fitness Center. The Brewers edged regular season champion Ithaca, 76-74, February 26 on the Ithaca, NY campus, then defeated Skidmore, 65-48, in the tournament finals February 27. Rothenberg led all scorers in the championship game with 16 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Zach Johnson ’23 had 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Vassar lost to Ithaca College, 72-59, February 19 on the Ithaca campus. Avni Mustafaj ’23 and Johnson each scored 13 points.
Hobart College used a strong second half to defeat the Brewers, 73-68, February 18 on the Hobart campus in Geneva, NY. Johnson paced Vassar with 21 points.
Johnson scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to propel Vassar to a 78-66 win over Skidmore College February 12 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Rothenberg finished with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute avenged an earlier loss to the Brewers, edging Vassar by a score of 60-57 February 5 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Mustafaj scored 19 points.
Johnson’s triple-double propelled Vassar to a 90-69 win over Bard College February 4 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Johnson finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Mustafaj and Ethan Ellis ’23 scored 14 points apiece.
Vassar used balanced scoring and a strong second half to defeat Clarkson University, 84-76, January 29 on the Clarkson campus in Potsdam, NY. Johnson paced the Brewers with 18 points. Kevin McAuliffe ’23 and Ellis each had 14, and Rothenberg added 11.
Vassar fell to St. Lawrence University, 51-50, January 28 on the St. Lawrence campus in Canton, NY. Mustafaj scored 10 points, and McAuliffe and Rothenberg each added nine.
Vassar edged Bard College, 53-52, January 22 on the Bard campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. Johnson scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Mustafaj finished with 14 points.
The Brewers posted their first win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute since 2018, downing the Engineers, 73-56, January 21 on the RPI campus in Loudonville, NY. Mustafaj and Johnson scored 23 and 17 points, respectively.
Rochester Institute of Technology defeated Vassar, 78-70, January 15 on the RIT campus. Mustafaj led Brewers scorers with 22 points.
Mustafaj scored 21 points and Johnson hauled down 17 rebounds to lead Vassar to a 66-57 victory over Skidmore College January 14 on the Skidmore campus in Saratoga Springs, NY. Ellis had 17 points, connecting on seven of 10 shots.
Vassar suffered its first Liberty League of the season January 11, falling to Union College, 79-65, on the Union campus in Schenectady, NY. Mustafaj led all scorers with 24 points. Johnson had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Brewers overcame a nine-point deficit at halftime and defeated St. Lawrence University, 68-63, January 8 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Mustafaj sank four straight free throws in the final 23 seconds to seal the win.
Johnson recorded his eighth double-double of the season, leading Vassar to a 75-73 victory over Clarkson University January 7 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Johnson scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Brewers defeated Moravian College, 75-64, at the Steel Club Classic January 2 in Bethlehem, PA. Mustafaj and Ellis were named to the All-Tournament Team. Mustafaj led all scorers with 19 points.
Women’s Basketball
Ithaca College defeated the Brewers (17-7, 16-2 Liberty League), 80-72, to capture the Liberty League regular season championship February 19 on the Ithaca, NY campus. Sarah Gillooly ’22 finished with 18 points, and Dani Douglas ’22 added 15.
Vassar outscored William Smith College by a 28-13 margin in the fourth quarter and defeated the Herons, 89-77, February 18 on the William Smith campus in Geneva, NY. Gillooly and Douglas scored 27 and 20 points, respectively.
Vassar outscored Skidmore College in the second quarter by a 24-11 margin and coasted to a 75-64 victory February 12 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Skidmore led 16-12 at the end of the first quarter, but Douglas and Julia Harvey ’25 sparked the second-quarter outburst. Douglas led all scorers with 28 points. Harvey had 15.
Tova Gelb ’25 connected on six of 11 attempts from three-point range to lead Vassar to an 83-42 win over Rochester Institute of Technology February 11 at the Athletics and Fitness Venter. Gelb finished with 22 points, all in the first half. Harvey had 14 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Alex Lee ’23 scored 15 points, and Douglas and Gillooly each added 14 as Vassar defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 58-53, February 5 at the Athletics and Fitness Center.
Lee scored 20 points, connecting on four of five attempts from beyond the arc, as Vassar defeated Bard College, 84-33, February 4 at the Athletics and Fitness Center.
Four players had double-digit scoring nights in Vassar’s 62-59 win over Clarkson University January 29 on the Clarkson campus in Potsdam, NY. Gillooly led the Brewers with 13 points. Harvey had 12, and Lee and Emily Tincher ’24 added 11 and 10, respectively.
Vassar avenged its only Liberty League loss of the season, defeating St. Lawrence University, 74-61, January 28 on the St. Lawrence campus in Canton, NY. Gillooly finished with a career-high 25 points, connecting on 10 of 19 shots. Harvey had 18 points and eight rebounds.
Nine players scored at least two points in Vassar’s 86-51 victory over Bard College January 22 on the Bard campus in Annandale-on-Hudson. Douglas led all scorers with 29 points, connecting on 9 of 15 shots from beyond the arc.
The Brewers cruised to a 72-60 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute January 21 on the RPI campus in Loudonville, NY. Vassar took a 35-26 lead into the locker room at halftime and maintained control in the second half. Gillooly scored 20 points, and Douglas added 13.
Douglas and Gillooly led the Brewers to a 60-54 victory over Rochester Institute of Technology January 15 on the RIT campus. Douglas scored 20 points, and Gillooly finished with 17.

Douglas and Harvey each sank five shots from three-point range, propelling Vassar to a 61-47 victory over Union College January 11 on the Union campus in Schenectady, NY. Douglas finished with a game-high 21 points, and Harvey had 18. The Brewers trailed by a point at halftime but outscored Union 20-9 in the third quarter.
St. Lawrence University snapped the Brewers’ Liberty League unbeaten streak with a 99-81 win January 8 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Gillooly scored 24 points.
Vassar outscored Clarkson University 28-11 in the final quarter to earn a come-from-behind victory, 58-53, on January 7 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. The Brewers trailed by a score of 44-30 with 10 minutes remaining, but they closed the gap on three-point shooting from Douglas and Lee. Gelb led all scorers with 17 points. Douglas finished with 13.
Douglas and Harvey scored 19 points apiece, leading the Brewers to a 69-58 victory over Clark University January 5 on the Clark campus in Worcester, MA. Gelb finished with 12 points, six steals, and a game-high 13 rebounds. Vassar forced 34 Clark turnovers.
Men’s Volleyball
Vassar (9-1) retained its No. 2 national ranking with a victory over fourth-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology in four sets, and the Brewers swept Ramapo College in three sets February 19 at Kenyon Hall. Andrew Kim ’23 had 14 kills in the win over Stevens. Vaughn Ramsey ’24 posted 18 in the win over Ramapo.
Vassar defeated Bard College in three sets February 15 on the Bard campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. Ramsey and Andrew Guaragno ’24 each registered 10 kills.
Vassar posted a straight-set victory over Massachusetts Institute of Technology February 12 on the MIT campus in Cambridge, MA. The Brewers won by scores of 25-18, 25-15, and 25-22. Andrew Kim had a season-high 17 kills.
The Brewers defeated New York University in straight sets February 5 on the campus of Springfield (MA) College. Andrew Kim had eight kills and three service aces. Gavin Van Beveren ’23 had five kills, three aces, and six blocks.
Top-ranked Springfield College edged third-ranked Vassar in five sets February 4 on the Springfield (MA) campus. Andrew Kim had 12 kills and Jacob Kim ’24 had 34 assists.
Vassar opened the season with three straight-set victories at Kenyon Hall. The Brewers defeated SUNY Potsdam in a doubleheader January 29 and blanked Arcadia College on January 30. Andrew Kim and Adam Gulick ’23 each had eight kills in the first win over Potsdam. Ramsey had 16 in the second match. Gulick had 17 kills in the victory over Arcadia.
Women’s Swimming
Vassar finished fourth in a 10-team field at the Liberty League Championships February 16-19 at Ithaca (NY) College. Ithaca finished first. Jesse Ecklund ’22 defended her league title in the 200-yard backstroke, posting a time of 2:01.74. Ecklund teamed with Abby Whittington ’23, Grace Myers ’23, and Lillian Lowenthal ’23 to finish second in the 400-yard relay.
Ecklund set a meet record in the 100-yard backstroke at the Vassar Sprint Invitational January 29 at Kresge Pool. Ecklund posted a time of 59.37, and Vassar won the meet with 642 points. Skidmore College finished with 428, and Bard College posted a score of 109.
Sarah Quintana ’24 won two events in Vassar’s 204-114 victory over Union College January 22 on the Union campus in Schenectady, NY. Quintana won the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard individual medley. The 200-yard medley relay team—Ecklund, Abby Jenkins ’22, Lowenthal, and Whittington—opened the meet with a victory.
Connecticut College defeated Vassar, 220-61, January 17 at Kresge Pool. Lowenthal finished second in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley and third in the 200-yard butterfly. Quintana placed second in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke. Evelyn Boyle ’23 was second in one-meter diving.
Men’s Swimming
The Brewers finished fourth in a nine-team field at the Liberty League Championships February 16-19 at the Ithaca College pool. Rochester Institute of Technology won the championship. Robbie Perot ’23 was third overall in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Ben Glazebnik ’25 finished in a tie for fourth in the 100-yard freestyle. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Glazebnik, Max White ’22, Lukas Johnson ’24, and Hayden Ehrenfeld ’25 posted a fourth-place finish.
Vassar defeated Skidmore and Bard at the Vassar Sprint Invitational January 29 at Kresge Pool. The 200-yard medley relay team set a meet record with a time of 1:38.48. Members of the team were Nick D’Arrigo ’23, Nikolas Pham ’22, White, and Glazebnik.
Glazebnik anchored the winning 200-yard medley relay team and won the 200-yard freestyle as Vassar defeated Union College, 205-1237, January 21 in the Union pool.
Vassar fell to Connecticut College, 203-92, January 17 at Kresge Pool. The 200-yard relay team finished second with a time of 1:39.29. Members of the team were D’Arrigo, Pham, White, and Glazebnik. Glazebnik also won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.90.
Women’s Fencing
Vassar (24-18) lost matches to New York University, 20-7, and Columbia University, 22-5, February 16 on the Columbia campus in New York City. Danielle Golden ’25 won two of her three matches in epee in the loss to NYU. Zoe Tolbert ’22 was 2-1 in foil. Tolbert also posted two wins in the loss to Columbia.
The Brewers won four of six matches February 5 at the Northeast Conference Multi-Meet in Wellesley, MA. Vassar defeated the University of Massachusetts, Sacred Heart University, the University of New Hampshire, and Boston University but fell to Tufts University and Wellesley College. Tolbert won 17 of 18 matches in foil competition.
Vassar defeated Dartmouth but fell to four other squads at the Northeast Conference Multi-Meet January 22 in Waltham, MA. The Brewers won by a score of 22-5 over Dartmouth but lost to Boston College, 16-11; Brown University, 19-8; Brandeis University, 16-11; and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 18-9. Tolbert and Tori Lubin ’22 were 3-0 in foil in the win over Dartmouth.
Men’s Fencing
The Brewers (20-17) dropped matches to New York University and Columbia University February 16 on the Columbia campus in New York City. Benjamin Lee ’24 was 2-1 in foil competition in the 22-5 loss to NYU. Eli Weise ’25 was 3-0 in epee in the 19-8 loss to Columbia.
Vassar won three of four matches at the Northeast Conference Multi-Meet February 5 in Wellesley, MA. The Brewers defeated the University of Massachusetts, 22-5; the University of New Hampshire, 25-2; and Boston University, 23-4. Sacred Heart University edged the Brewers, 14-13. Conor Travaglione ’23 was undefeated in saber competition, winning all 11 matches.
Vassar defeated Dartmouth but fell to four other squads at the Northeast Conference Multi-Meet January 22 in Waltham, MA. The Brewers won by a score of 23-4 over Dartmouth but lost to Boston College, 19-8; Brown University, 16-11; Brandeis University, 21-6; and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 21-6. Travaglione and Wolff Gilligan ’24 were 3-0 in saber in the match against Dartmouth.
Women’s Squash
Vassar (9-6) posted a pair of victories February 19 on the campus of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA. The Brewers edged Mount Holyoke, 5-4, and defeated Smith College, 7-2. Emma Adams ’25 posted wins in both matches playing the No. 2 position.
Vassar blanked Bard College but lost all 18 matches to William Smith College and St. Lawrence University February 5 at Kenyon Hall. Adams defeated Bard’s Pam Jaramillo in the No. 1 match, 11-1, 11-8, and 11-1.
Hamilton College blanked Vassar, 9-0, January 30 at Kenyon Hall. No. 1 Claire Coss ’22 lost by scores of 11-5, 11-8, and 11-6.
Men’s Squash
The Brewers (7-12) defeated Fordham University, 5-4, but lost to Haverford College, Hobart College, and Denison University in the Conroy Division of the Collegiate Squash Association Championships February 18 at Specter Center in Philadelphia, PA. Rithik Jalali ’24 won his No. 1 match against Fordham in straight sets.
The Brewers defeated Bard College, 8-1, but were shut out in two other matches in the Liberty League Round Robin February 5 at Kenyon Hall. Jarid Haslinger ’25 won his No. 2 match against Bard’s Devon Wall, 11-3, 11-2, and 11-4.
Vassar fell to Hamilton College, 9-0, January 30 at Kenyon Hall. Jalali lost by scores of 11-4, 11-4, and 11-9. At No. 1. No. 8 Reese Collins ’22 won the only game of the match for Vassar, winning the first set, 11-8, before falling by scores of 11-1, 11-5, and 11-8.
Women’s Tennis
Melina Stavropoulos ’22 won her No. 1 singles and doubles matches as Vassar defeated Drew University, 9-0, February 12 at Walker Field House. Stavropoulos teamed with Sofie Shen ’24 for the 8-1 victory in doubles, and she posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory in singles.
Men’s Tennis
Vassar defeated Liberty League rival Skidmore, 7-2, February 19 at Kenyon Hall.
Matthew Yee ’22 posted a 6-2, 6-2 win his No. 2 singles match and teamed with Arnay Agostino ’25 for a win in No. 1 doubles.
Vassar split a pair of matches in Rochester, NY February 13, defeating the University of Rochester, 7-2 but losing to Rochester Institute of Technology, 5-4. Jay Wong ’24 posted a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 win in his #1 singles match against the University of Rochester. Yee and Agostino eked out an 8-7 win in No. 1 doubles. In the match against RIT, Wong won his No. 1 singles match, 6-4, 6-1, and he teamed with Benjamin Almquist ’24 for an 8-1 win in No. 2 doubles.
