Vassar's 2026 Writer-in-Residence reading will be delivered by Dinaw Mengestu

Dinaw Mengestu is the author of four novels: Someone Like Us; All Our Names; How To Read the Air; and The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears, all New York Times Notable Books. His work has appeared in the New York Times, New Yorker, Harper’s, Granta, Rolling Stone, and other publications. He is a 2012 MacArthur Fellow and recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, Lannan Fellowship for Fiction, Guardian First Book Award, and Los Angeles Times Book Prize, among other honors. He is the director of the Written Arts Program at Bard College, the director of the Center for Ethics and Writing, and the president of PEN America.
