The Department of Dance and the Dean of the Faculty Office present Baye & Asa

Location:

Frances Daly Fergusson Dance Theater, Kenyon Hall

Directed by Amadi “Baye” Washington and Sam “Asa” Pratt, Baye & Asa is a company creating movement art projects. Hip-hop and African dance languages form the foundation of their technique. With it, they build theatrical metaphors, interrogate systemic inequities, and contemporize ancient allegories. Baye & Asa were named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” (2022), and received the 2023 Harkness Promise Award.

Their work has been commissioned by leading arts organizations, including the Martha Graham Dance Company, Baryshnikov Arts Center, The Joyce Theater, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Jacob’s Pillow, and the Battery Dance Festival. This marks Baye & Asa’s second residency at Vassar College.

Reservations are required and can be made at vassardance.tix.com.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations may contact the Office of Campus Activities at (845) 437-5370.

Two dancers perform on stage; one kneels with an arm raised while being pulled forward by the other, who leans away with an outstretched arm.
