“How I Became a Health Economist” by Shirley Johnson-Lans

Shirley Johnson-Lans, Professor Emerita of Economics and editor/contributing author of The Coronavirus Pandemic and Inequality: A Global Perspective, will present “How I Became a Health Economist.” Her talk will reflect on her contribution to the recognition of health economics as an important field within the broader discipline of economics. Thanks to her influence, Vassar became the first college to offer a course in health economics as part of its curriculum. She will trace the path she forged to make this innovation possible and discuss the evolution of the field.
The lecture will be followed by conversation and a reception.
