The Film Department welcomes new and returning students for a screening of Bacurau, followed by a faculty discussion connecting the film to their research, creative practices, and Film Department courses. The event will also introduce students to the Film major and conclude with a welcome-back reception on the quad.

Bacurau follows a small settlement in Brazil’s remote backcountry that is shaken by the death of its elderly matriarch. As something strange begins happening in the village, the residents find themselves under threat from an unknown enemy and prepare to fight for their survival.
