English Professor Active in Music and Abroad
Paul Kane, Professor Emeritus of English, recently released “Intimations” (Modern Sounds, 2025), a music and poetry recording with the avant-garde jazz ensemble The String Trio of New York, led by guitarist James Emery.
Additionally, the annual Lessons & Carols Advent Service for 2025 featured a three-part poem by Kane (“Songs of Refuge”) set to music by composer Colin Britt and performed by the Vassar Choirs under the direction of Christine Howlett, Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities on the George Sherman Dickinson Chair. Kane also gave a reading in Iceland at Reykjavik Poetics and delivered a paper at the 2025 ANDA (Associazione Nazionale Docenti di Anglistica) International Conference, held at the Università del Salento in Lecce, Italy, in summer 2025.
