Hi everyone! My name is Jimena Saavedra, and I’m so excited to be one of the IS interns this year! I’d love to connect and figure out how I can best support you. I’m concentrating in Political Science and Hispanic Studies, and I’m also pursuing a Latin American Studies correlate. Last fall, I studied abroad in London, which sparked a lot of travel since then! I also co-lead UFLI Study Abroad, a group that encourages and supports first-generation, low-income students who are interested in studying abroad. Having never traveled before coming to Vassar, I know the process can feel overwhelming, but I’m here to be part of your support system and to answer any questions or concerns you might have. Beyond academics, I love going to rock concerts, collecting records, working on puzzles, and trying new foods. I can’t wait to meet you during my office hours! And if those times don’t work, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d be more than happy to set up another time to chat. You can contact me at jsaavedra@vassar.edu. Looking forward to connecting with you soon!

Hello everyone! My name is Demetri Sedita, and I’ll be one of the IS interns for this year! My concentrations are in Political Science and Geography, and I’m also pursuing a correlate in Prison Studies. Throughout my time at Vassar, I’ve had an academic focus on topics relating to sustainability and climate change, and I have had the pleasure of working on research with faculty from the Environmental Studies program. Last spring, I spent the semester studying at Trinity College Dublin, and over the summer, I was working at the University of Edinburgh’s Futures Institute researching local governments’ responses to climate change in Scotland as part of the Edinburgh-Vassar Scholars program. Outside of academics, I am co-president of Students for Equitable Environmental Decisions (SEED) and am very passionate about building support within the Vassar community for campus decarbonization. In my free time, I love getting out into nature in the Hudson Valley and tasting/cooking new vegan foods. I’m excited to meet you all at my office hours or at another time that works for you! My email is dsedita@vassar.edu. Please reach out if you need advice, have any questions, or just want to connect!
