Emily Nomer finds aesthetic company in the Pattern & Decoration artists of the 1970’s, amongst others. Most of the works are painted in acrylic, and geometry, repetition, and pattern are the basis of most compositions. Balance and proportion remain her guiding principles.

Faculty member Frank Cassara will be joined by the NYC-based ensemble "Percussia" to perform his new work "Broadway Boogie Woogie", a NYSCA grant winner, based on the the painting by Piet Mondrian. Hailing from the vibrant hub of Queens, New York, Percussia masterfully blends classical precision, modern innovation, global traditions, and popular flair into a cohesive and thrilling sound experience.

Inspired by the exhibition, The Botanist at Vassar, the Loeb is proud to partner with Nature’s Impact to present a hands-on workshop with artist Serena Domingues, featuring her Botanical Dreams series—large-scale floral sculptures inspired by the power and mystery of nature. Guests will engage in a guided experience where they observe botanical forms and create their own imagined flower through sculpting and making. 

This event is free and open to the public, ages 7 and up.

A talk by Anita Varma ’08 based on her 2026 Columbia University Press book Solidarity in Journalism, about journalism and social justice. The talk will explore how conventional journalistic norms discourage reporters from taking sides; journalists are supposed to remain neutral, impartial, and objective.
