AJ Solovy
AJ Solovy is a social and cultural historian of modern Europe who works on fascism, democracy, and the Holocaust and its aftermath. She is currently writing a book manuscript that shows how former members of the SS reasserted Nazi ideology and culture in West German and Austrian liberal democracies. Professor Solovy earned her PhD in History from UC Berkeley, an M.A in History from the University of Vienna, and a B.A in History and English from Williams College. Her research has been supported by institutions such as the German Academic Exchange Commission, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Leo Baeck Institute, and the Central European History Society. At Vassar, Professor Solovy offers a survey course of modern Europe, as well as courses on the history of fascism, the Holocaust, and Germany and Austria in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
