Susan Correll (Kennett) received her MA from the University of Sussex and her MPhil and PhD from Columbia University. In 1984–85 Correll was a Junior Fellow of the W. Averell Harriman Institute of Advanced Study in the Soviet Union. From 1991 to 2014 she served as the Director of International Programs at Vassar and Associate Dean of Studies. In 1998 she received the distinguished service award in international education from American University. Her dissertation, “Curriculum Reform in Russia and Economic Change: A Study of the Latent Implications of Mathematical Texts”, was a comparative examination of US and Russian pedagogy immediately following perestroika. She was instrumental in establishing the first Vassar study trip in 1987 taking students to Moscow, Leningrad and Vilnius and 1988 and 1990 study trips to Uzbekistan and Tbilisi.

Her current interest is focused on promoting the development of strong undergraduate Russian Studies programs as a way of supporting young scholars in all fields of graduate study.
