Anonymous Gift to Davison Lets the Games Begin

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, students in Davison House have a new entertainment option just a few steps from their rooms. A formerly little-used portion of the basement has been transformed into a venue for some competitive foosball or ping–pong matches, a variety of board games or video games, or relaxation in front of two large, wall-mounted television screens. 

“The exposed brick walls create a cozy atmosphere, where students can come together to play games, watch a TV show or movie, or study,” said Dylan Stratton, Davison’s House Advisor. “It has been transformed into a truly inviting common space with ample and comfortable contemporary seating.”

The room has also been decorated with photographs of life on the Vassar campus, including some large framed pictures of Vassar sports teams in action. The space has been freshly painted and carpeted.

Davison residents Emmie Jensen ’25 and Maryam Bacchus ’25 said the game room has been a popular hangout for many in the residence. “There have already been some ping–pong tournaments held down there,” Jensen said. “It’s been used a lot this fall, especially as a gathering place for first-year students.”
