A Message From the Board: Spring Board of Trustees Meeting Inbox

May 29, 2026

Dear all,

We are writing to update you on the recent Spring Board of Trustees Meeting.

It was a busy weekend for the Board, and we have highlighted a few of their key activities below:

  1. Board members had dinner with graduating seniors who had won competitive fellowships (both Vassar fellowships and external fellowships). This dinner was hosted by the Student and Academic Affairs Committee of the Board.
  2. Board members heard a presentation from Carlos Garcia entitled “Engaging AI at Vassar: A Liberal Arts Approach.”
  3. Board members had lunch with several faculty members who are part of the campus Artificial Intelligence Working Group.
  4. Board members received a presentation from President Bradley that summarized the results of the Priorities and Planning Review, which can be viewed here. If you have questions or feedback about the results of the Priorities and Planning Review, please feel free to write to President Bradley. The results of the Review will also be discussed at the Faculty Meeting, Administrative Forum, and Staff Forum in the Fall.
  5. The Board honored retiring trustees (Monica Vachher ’77, Amy Gurley P’26, Patrick DeYoung ’18) and retiring Student Observer to the Board (Mariya Novosad ’26) with a special dinner in the Alumnae House.
  6. The Board voted to approve the recommended Contract Extension, Reappointment, and Promotion to Associate Professor with Indeterminate Tenure of several faculty members. The Board also approved the conferral of Emerita/us status to several retiring faculty members.
  7. And, the Board voted to confer degrees to the graduates of the Class of 2026! Congratulations to all the graduated seniors! The Board could not be more proud of your accomplishments.

Thank you to the many different groups on campus who helped make the Board meeting successful. The Chair of the Board, Sharon Chang will be coming to campus in the Fall semester to meet with students and again in the Spring semester to meet with faculty. If you (or a group you are a part of) want to express interest in meeting with Chair Chang while she is on campus, please write to Wesley Dixon, Secretary of the Board of Trustees, at wdixon@vassar.edu.

Have a great summer!
