Everyday Crisis in a Service Metropolis: The “Miracle” of Debt in Medellín, Colombia
–
Location: Rockefeller Hall 300
Medellín, Colombia, has gone from being one of the world’s most violent cities to a city often celebrated as a model of urban innovation. In this lecture, Dr. Kathryn Furlong of the Université de Montréal’s Department of Geography examines how infrastructure financing and public debt have helped produce both the city’s celebrated “miracle” and everyday crises for its most vulnerable residents.
This event is free and open to the public.
