Daniel Merriman

Daniel Merriman is a double bassist and educator who resides in the Hudson Valley region of New York state. He is a member of both the Hudson Valley Philharmonic and the Reading Symphony Orchestra and regularly performs with the New Jersey Festival Orchestra, Albany Symphony, Allentown Symphony, Lancaster Symphony, and Glens Falls Symphony. His summer orchestral engagements have included appearances with the American Modern Orchestra as part of the Mostly Modern Festival at Skidmore University, The Lake Placid Sinfonietta, The Endless Mountain Music Festival Orchestra, and the Phoenicia Festival of Voice.

In addition to his performance engagements, Daniel has held faculty appointments at the New York Music School in Tenafly, NJ, Rutgers Extension Division at the Mason Gross School for the Arts, and SUNY New Paltz. He also maintains a private teaching studio in the mid-Hudson Valley.

Daniel holds a Masters of Music degree from SUNY Purchase, a Bachelors of Music degree from the Hartt School at the University of Hartford, and pursued further studies at Rutgers University. His primary teachers include New York Philharmonic Principal Bassist Timothy Cobb and soloist Robert Black.
