2016 Internship Fund
The Class of 2016 Internship Fund was established as a way for members of the class to give back to Vassar in their 5th year since graduation, while having a real impact on students who are at the College now. Through a partnership with the Center for Career Education, this fund will provide critical support that enables current Vassar students to accept low or unpaid internships.
Although internships are a vital opportunity to supplement a liberal arts education with real-world professional experience, they are not equally accessible to students of all backgrounds. Many students rely on earnings from summer jobs, or do not have the resources needed to accept an internship in a location where the cost of living would be prohibitive. By giving preference to students from low-income and first-generation backgrounds, the Class of 2016 Internship Fund demonstrates a true commitment to accessibility that extends beyond admission to Vassar, and empowers equitable support as these students transition into their professional futures.
Vassar’s Class of 1951 has generously offered their partnership with a pledge of $15,000 towards the internship fund. This amount will be used to triple-match gifts made by the Class of 2016.
To honor the commitment that 2016 has made and inspire additional support, Vassar’s Class of 1951 has generously offered their partnership with a pledge of $15,000 towards the internship fund. This amount will be used to triple-match gifts made by the Class of 2016. So, if an alum from the Class of 2016 gives $50 towards the fund, Vassar ’51 will make an additional gift of $150, effectively quadrupling the gift! This triple match will continue until the entire $15,000 pledge has been gifted, and will be instrumental in helping establish this fund as an ongoing giving designation that can be supported in the years to come.
More information on internships and funding support can be found on Vassar’s Center for Career Education website.
