Fall 2006 Volume 102 Issue 4

IRAQ VS. VIETNAM

The war in Iraq is now a major conflict, costlier in lives and treasure than any other U.S.-led war since 1975. The outcome in Iraq will have a dramatic impact on U.S. foreign policy for years and will drastically alter the geopolitical future of the Middle East.

A Great Reunion

1,340 alumnae/i and their guests returned to campus June 9–11 to help make Reunion 2006 a smashing success.

Commencement 2006

ON A SUNNY AND HUMID DAY IN MAY, 610 BLACK-GOWNED MEMBERS OF THE CLASS OF 2006 RECEIVED THEIR DIPLOMAS AND THEN RACED TO FIND SHADE—AND PERHAPS A CUP OF CHAMPAGNE—ON THE LIBRARY LAWN.

A First Look: President Catharine Bond Hill

Neither Catharine Bond Hill nor her family have had time to celebrate her new job at Vassar. Her household is still settling down after a hectic summer. Son John, the oldest of three children, completed his bachelor’s at Williams, Thomas is finishing up at Kent School, and Liz left her Williamstown high school to begin sophomore year at Riverdale Country School, where dad Kent Kildahl is head of the Upper School.
