The Poughkeepsie Journal remembered the life of Maisry MacCracken ’31, who passed away at age 102.

Inside Higher Ed praised President Hill’s recent op-ed about veterans in higher education.

The Washington Post reported the death of Anne (Nevin) Chamberlin ’42. She was a journalist whose work included stints at LIFE and Time magazines.

Inside Higher Ed quoted economics professor Ben Ho in a story about the Faculty Project, which provides free online courses to the public from professors at elite academic institutions. Yahoo! Finance noted that Ho will teach the Faculty Project course “Economics of Energy and the Environment.”

The Poughkeepsie Journal ran a story about the college’s plans tto renovate the Juliet Café building on Raymond Avenue and turn it into a bookstore.

HuffingtonPost and AOL featured Trustee Lisa Kudrow ’85 in an interview (from CBS’s The Talk) about reuniting with Friends co-star David Schwimmer on her hit ShowTime sitcom Web Therapy. The New York Times called her a pioneer for her work with Web Therapy. The New York Post and Mother Nature News gave nods to Kudrow and her NBC series Who Do You Think You Are?

The Times Call (CO) featured Paco Underhill ’75 (pictured) in an article about redeveloping a local shopping mall.

The Poughkeepsie Journal praised the Palmer Gallery’s recent exhibition Teen Visions.

NPR’s Fresh Air featured Trustee Meryl Streep ’71 in a lengthy interview that included discussion of Vassar. HuffingtonPost (and a very long list of others) also noted that Streep won her third Oscar! Watch her acceptance speech on Mediaite.

WYNC News and YNN interviewed Rick Lazio ’80 about Mitt Romney. HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher featured Lazio on a panel.

The New York Times featured Martha Barnette ’81 and her book A Garden of Words in a recent acrostic puzzle.

The New York Times quoted Hunter Walk ’95 in an article about sock choice as fashion statement in Silicon Valley.

Business Insider mentioned Michael Wolff ’75 in a story about the Financial Times. CNN featured him in a video interview and the Chicago Tribune featured him in an article about Rupert Murdoch and News Corp.

Woman’s Day featured What Not To Wear's Stacy London ’91 (pictured) offering advice for transitioning your wardrobe from winter to spring. The Hollywood Reporter, Coco Perez, and Television Blend noted that London will serve as executive producer for a new unscripted TLC series about a Brooklyn fashion boutique for plus-size women. US Weekly and HuffingtonPost featured her commentary on past Oscar fashion faux pas. StyleCaster wrote about London’s talk at the recent State of Style Summit in New York.

The Seattle Post Intelligencer noted that Andrew Zimmern ’84 came to town to sample the region’s bizarre eats. The Partnership at Drugfree.org featured him in a Q&A interview. George’s at the Cove blog gave a look behind the scenes at filming an episode of Bizarre Foods America with Zimmern. Eater, Anderson Cooper, and Radar Online shared Zimmern’s reaction to Paula Dean’s controversial diabetes diagnosis and pharmaceutical endorsement deal. The San Angelo Standard-Times (TX) wrote about how he helps to make bizarre foods more familiar. New York magazine’s Grub Street featured Zimmern’s take on New York’s food scene. ABC News interviewed him about what to expect from the debut season of Bizarre Foods America. The Boston Globe noted that Zimmern joined Babson College as entrepreneur-in-residence.

The Boston Herald quoted Leonard Steinhorn ’77 in an article about the use of candidate surrogate stand-ins during political campaigns. U.S. News & World Report quoted him in a story about political candidates and home state advantage. Silver Spring Patch (MD) and NECN quoted Steinhorn in articles about the role of social media in U.S. politics. The Patriot-News (PA) quoted him in a story about politicians and their front-and-center and behind-the-scenes staff. Reuters mentioned Steinhorn in a story about the donations of Wall Street firms to political candidates.

The New Yorker noted that English professor Amitava Kumar (pictured) read a selection from Salman Rushdie’s banned The Satanic Verses at the Jaipur Literary Festival in India as a form of protest.

HuffingtonPost, Examiner.com, and the San Jose Mercury News (CA) praised Lorenzo Pisoni ’97 in Humor Abuse, the one-person show about Pisoni’s experience growing up in the Pickle Family Circus.

The Times Herald-Record (NY) quoted economics professor David Kennett in a story about business development in the Hudson Valley.

The Times Literary Supplement praised religion professor Marc Michael Epstein’s The Medieval Haggadah.

The Indianapolis Prize, “the world’s leading award for animal conservation,” named Ball State University president JoAnn (Gennaro) Gora ’66 to its executive committee.

ruggedDiAMOND and Relix ran articles about singer/songwriter Rachael Yamagata ’96. ArtistDirect sat down with her for a candid video interview. WNRN featured Yamagata in a live in-studio interview and performance.

Playbill, the New York Times, and the New York Post noted that Ionescopade, a comical “musical vaudeville” by Mildred (Goldstein) Kayden ’42, was recently revived Off-Broadway.
