MODFEST kicks off two weeks of daily arts-related events—painting, sculpture, dance, drama, film, literature, poetry, and music. This year it celebrates its 10th anniversary. Highlights include JACK Quartet, a string band performing modernist works; faculty member Mary Nessinger in Sciarrino’s avant-garde chamber opera Vanitas; and a dramatic reading of Paula Vogel’s The Baltimore Waltz. Runs through Saturday, February 4.

The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center unveils its latest exhibition, the solo show “Marco Maggi: Lentissimo.” Curated by Mary-Kay Lombino, the Art Center’s Emily Hargroves Fisher '57 and Richard B. Fisher Curator and assistant director for strategic planning, “Lentissimo” is an exhibition of 14 colorful new works by Marco Maggi made expressly for the occasion of this exhibition. Born in Uruguay, Maggi lives in the Hudson Valley community of New Paltz. Runs through Sunday, April 1.

Vassar hosts its first monthly Winter Sun Indoor Farmers Market of 2012. Local farmers will be selling meat, eggs, root crops, cheese, pickles, and more. Did you read about Vassar’s young alum farmers in the recent issue of the Vassar Quarterly?

The programs in Victorian Studies and Medieval and Renaissance Studies are sponsoring a lecture and accompanying tea. Associate director of special collections Ron Patkus will give the talk “The King James Bible and the English Arts and Crafts Tradition.”
