Meet the Class of 2014

Vassar’s most selective and diverse freshman class has arrived on campus. These 666 students were selected from the largest applicant pool in Vassar's history. Slightly less than 24% of 7,822 applicants were offered admission. Nearly 35% are students of color, the largest percentage in the college's history. Eighty are first-generation college students and nine percent of the class (58 members) are international students with either foreign or dual citizenship. The class also is the college's most socio-economically diverse freshman class, with 62.5% receiving Vassar scholarship funding. Members of the Class of 2014 come from more than 500 high schools in 48 U.S. states and 29 foreign nations.

Many of these students already have done remarkable things: one worked in her country's president’s office, for example, one has performed in two Broadway musicals, one trains puppies for the Seeing Eye Dog Foundation, one is a starter on Hong Kong's under-20 national soccer team, and one is nationally ranked by the U.S. Tennis Association. Stay tuned for more to come!
