Lisa Kudrow ’85

Lisa Kudrow ’85 was elected to the Vassar College board of trustees in February 2004.

Ms. Kudrow is best known for her Emmy Award winning portrayal of Phoebe Buffay from the hit comedy series “Friends.”

In addition to Lisa’s success on television, she won the Best Supporting Actress Award from the New York Film Critics, an Independent Spirit Award nomination and a Chicago Film Critics Award nomination for her role in the Don Roos scripted and directed film “The Opposite of Sex” (1998). She’s received other awards or nominations for her work in comedies such as “Romy & Michele’s High School Reunion,” and “Analyze This.”

In 2003 Lisa partnered with writer/actor/producer Dan Bucatinsky ’87 to form Is or Isn’t Entertainment. Through Is or Isn’t Entertainment, Lisa co-created with Michael Patrick King the critically acclaimed and Emmy nominated HBO series “The Comeback.” A second installment of “The Comeback” debuted in the Fall of 2014 on HBO. Lisa again, co-wrote, produced and starred in the series. Is or Isn’t Entertainment also made the pioneering web to premium cable show “Web Therapy.” Lisa co-created, wrote and starred in this alternative comedy, the format of which is produced successfully in many countries around the world.

At present Is or Isn’t Entertainment is in production on the Emmy winning documentary series “Who Do You Think You Are?” which is currently in it’s eighth season.

Lisa also serves on the board of PS Arts (2009) and on the inaugural board of the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA (2013).

Lisa currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband Michel Stern, and their son, Julian.
