Barbara Ludlam Danz was elected to the Vassar College Board of Trustees in 2017.
Ms. Danz graduated from Vassar in 1966 with an AB in mathematics. After an initial career in the information technology sector, she joined (then) Ernst & Ernst as a management consultant in its Los Angeles office. In that role, she consulted with healthcare providers across the country in the areas of systems planning and operations. In 1980, she was elected to the partnership as Ernst’s first woman partner world-wide. In 1982, Ms. Danz, joined Deloitte as the partner in charge of management advisory services in Orange County, California. In addition to supervising all aspects of the firm’s consulting practice in Orange County, she served as the regional head of the firm’s healthcare practice.
Ms. Danz attended the Gould School of Law at the University of Southern California in 1989 and earned her J.D. in 1992. She practiced law as a member of the employment law department in the Orange County office of Paul Hastings. In that capacity, she represented employers in all aspects of employment law, including consultation on employee issues and investigations, litigation of sexual harassment, discrimination and wrongful termination claims and negotiation of employment and severance agreements.
Since her retirement in 2001, Ms. Danz has served on a number of non-profit boards including the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach, California, the Discovery Children’s Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the First Tee of Southern Nevada. In 2002, she was elected President of the Alpine Springs County Water District in Alpine Meadows, California, a position she held for 10 years. Ms. Danz also chaired the Gifts Committee for her 50th Vassar Reunion, during which the Class of 1966 raised more than $14 million, the second-highest 50th Reunion class gift in Vassar’s history. In addition to her responsibilities as a Vassar Trustee, Ms. Danz chairs the Board of Trustees of the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno, Nevada, the only accredited art museum in the State of Nevada.
Ms. Danz and her husband, Tad, live in Incline Village, Nevada, and Corona del Mar, California. They have two children and three grandchildren.
