Dutchess County Public Transit

Dutchess County Bus Partnership

Public transportation is one of the most sustainable ways to see the Hudson Valley, and Vassar offers a number of resources to encourage taking the bus instead of driving or calling a taxi. All Vassar students, faculty, staff, and administrators can ride the Dutchess County Bus for free with their Vassar ID Card.

The Ride Guides Program, new in Fall 2019, offers opportunities to join other students for group outings in Poughkeepsie via the bus. All are welcome on these trips, but the program is especially tailored to support people who are new to local public transit. More about Ride Guides and upcoming events sign up.

Electric Vehicle Charging

Two EV Vehicle Charging Stations are currently located outside Josselyn House and are open for use by campus and the community at large. 85% of the charger’s cost was funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), and plans are underway to install additional chargers elsewhere on campus.

Two Zipcars are parked in North Lot behind Jewett House for students, faculty, and staff to rent by the hour. Visit Zipcar for discounted membership with complimentary gas and up to 180 miles/day included.
