Sarah Bakke Named Vassar’s Assistant Vice President of Human Resources

Sarah Bakke has been named Assistant Vice President of Human Resources at Vassar College, Carlos Garcia, Vice President for Technology and Human Resources announced.

Bakke, who came to Vassar in 2013, had been serving as Associate Director of the department since 2019. During her tenure, Bakke created an employee wellness program for the college and implemented a campus-wide professional development and training program. In her new role, she will be working with other senior staff at the college to set the direction of the Human Resources Department’s policies and programs. She will also be dealing directly with union officials on campus.

“Sarah has exhibited extraordinary vision and creativity during her time in the Human Resources Department,” Garcia said. “I look forward to working with her as she assumes this new leadership role.”

Bakke said she was looking forward to overseeing the seven-member HR staff. “Our team is composed of fantastic, professional people, and together we can continue to make Human Resources a proactive and positive resource for everyone at Vassar,” she said.

Bakke, a resident of LaGrange, earned Certified Professional (CP) status with the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and is a member of SHRM’s Mid-Hudson chapter.

Vassar College is a coeducational, independent, residential liberal arts college founded in 1861.
