Using Data Science to Assess Survey Quality
PhD Candidate in Political Science, UNC
Tuesday 4/5, 4-5PM in RH312 (Reception at 3:30PM in RH305, Math Lounge)
You may have been hearing a lot about data science recently - but what do data scientists do exactly?
In this talk, I use part of my dissertation research to illustrate how data science helps us answer consequential questions about data. In particular, I present a tool that I have developed that helps us to answer two key questions when it comes to survey data: 1) How trustworthy is my survey data? 2) How accurate are the people collecting my survey data? I walk through the intuition behind the tool and demonstrate its use on a large, interviewer-implemented survey carried out in Malawi.
