Stephen C. Jones Associate Professor of Drama and Director of Theater

Stephen joined the faculty of the Department of Drama, as the Professor of Design for theatre, in 2011. He has been working professionally since the early 90’s, and his designs are seen in Regional Theatre, Shakespeare Festivals and Dance around the country. Stephen is involved with Nemetschek-Vectorworks as a certified trainer, and beta software tester. He conducts national training seminars on 3D drafting and rendering. He is a proud member of United Scenic Artist Local USA 829 where he holds the categories of scenic and lighting designer. Stephen is also a member of the United States Institute of Theatre Technology, an organization focused on the development of young theatre designers and technicians.

As a Professor of Theatre Design, Stephen challenges students in their discovery how technology can be used as a tool in storytelling. His teaching is based on the idea of creating a unified theatrical experience through the study of scenography and dramaturgy of design.
